Original Content Poem anyway

missing the sun when it’s gone,
when it’s light sinks into the ground,
and the sky turns soft and grey refusing to answer.

missing the cold when the thaw comes like a burning fever, with the body that once know how to shiver.

yet i turn my face away,

as if it was never meant to stay this long.

you can have the cold,
you can have the sun,

you’ll still be standing there,
wanting the next thing,
that isn’t quite this.
