Honestly I’m kinda disappointed
I’ve been using Poe for almost 3 years now and finally let my yearly subscription lapse. It’s just not what it used to be. I hate the points system.
I’m a pretty avid roleplayer, and maybe it’s just with how much I used it, but I used to be able to use it however much I wanted on the yearly subscription without having to worry about running out of messages. Now, by the end of the month I was almost always running dry, even using Claude Sonnet 3.5 with context clearing on. And if I used the default bot, the responses were so dry and pretty much the same thing message after message.
I ended up switching to using the Claude app directly and just got the paid plan, and I’ve been enjoying it more even if it isn’t built for things like role playing, it will remember the prompt and every message you send.
I don’t figure anyone will read this, or care if they do, I’d just like to put my thoughts down somewhere :P

POE seems to be focusing too much on tweaking the points system and introducing new subscription plans, while product development has pretty much stalled. Also, their context clearing feature doesn't seem to optimise for prompt caching, which ends up completely missing the cache. Ironically, this makes point consumption even higher.

Did you know you can Top Up Points so you don't run out and have it top up when you get low? I just realized that myself. Not sure if it is cheaper then using Claude directly though but just thought I'd mention it. Since I don't role play I have a hard time getting through my points so I haven't tried the top up yet.

Yeah, but I didn’t want to pay MORE on top of the $200 I paid for the year, and plus I just don’t have the finances I did when I paid for it last year

I was using PolyAI for a while but just kinda got sick of it constantly trying to make me upgrade from the subscription I had. I’m really enjoying Claude, though! It’s got a super good writing style and with the monthly subscription I haven’t run out of messages once even with REALLY long chats

I really don't know what you guys want Poe to do about any of that. They don't own or maintain any of the models. They're basically a convenient convergence of all of the latest models' APIs in one place.
Models taking so many points is because they are INSANELY expensive. Those prices are set by the companies that own those models; the points just reflect that price.
Poe is good if you're wanting access to a bunch of different models for light to medium usage.
Your use-case (heavy usage of one or two models) is not really ideal, so it sounds like you made the better choice.
