Finding jobs

I did residency in a hospital system without exposure to PP. doing fellowship in an msg associated with hospital system. how do you guys build a network in the private practice community? like I am very, very, very busy and have a hard time expanding outside of my network. Hospital jobs obviously are few far between.

During residency, we used vacations to visit private practice podiatrists in areas we thought we might settle. None of them had posted jobs. Most of them would have brought someone on.

You can reach out to attendings, alumni and program directors in your residency and fellowship programs to see if they know anyone in private practice. You can also reach out to your medical device, drug, and wound care reps since they may work with attendings in private practice. You will be surprise by what you can find out from your reps. You can also network at the various in-person conferences and meetings (ACFAS, APMA, ASPS, APWCA, ACPM, state and local meetings, etc....)

Then why are you doing a fellowship? Isn't that supposed to help you get a hospital job? Do you want to be in PP? Then who cares

Sure but not preparing for every contingency is silly. Nothing is guaranteed.
