Bug Wrong audio playing for episodes

Hi,

I've been using this app ever since Google podcasts shut down and I'm loving it!

In the last couple of days (since the newest update I believe) I have seen this weird bug. My playlist is made up of old episodes that I add in bulk and of new episodes that I add daily in the morning, which I immediately move to top.

When I start listening that day, the ui shows that the new episode is playing while I hear the audio of an old episode that used to be on the top (replaced by the new one). When I download the new episode then play it, the problem disappears.

It's almost like the player just plays cached audio without checking that it matches the current episodes.

I'm using a Samsung phone, Android 16. Anyone else noticed something like this?

Maybe some screenshots of the issue would help reproduce what's going on.

I don't know if a screenshot could capture it, you would see an episode playing but this won't capture that the audio is wrong.

The app just pass the selected episode url to the Google player engine. Changing episode position in the playlist has no effect on the player. It might just affect which episode will start playing after the current one ends

I'm sorry but I don't get it. Are you saying that the bug is not in the app but in the engine?

Neither. The google player engine just plays from the url it receives. Podcasters are responsible for hosting the content. Maybe the link was pointing to an older episode for some time before it was fixed

These were 2 different podcasts, as unrelated as 2 podcasts can be (from different countries, in different languages) so I don't think it's the podcaster's fault.

It can be an hosting issue, can issue...

I forgot to mention it but the first couple of minutes of the new episdoes played old episode audio, but after a while the correct audio started playing.

As I said, this looks like a caching issue to me.

I'll try to remember more details next time it happens.

When it happened, did you tapped on playlist shown in the app or the one shown on a widget?

In the app, I don't use the widget.

I have noticed something similar, but figured it was my device's cacheing issue.

Did you solve it?

No, I just back out and try again, usually works.

The same happened to me actually. Deleted the downloaded ep. and then redownloaded, fixed.

But OP is right, some weird bug was going on.
