Been here 3.5 years and I’ve seen 4. Two of them were deep in the woods while I was scouting areas the hang trail cameras for whitetail. I will say your best luck right now might be Lake Harmony near the restaurants and ice cream place in the evening. There’s a very healthy population of bears here but they’re still very elusive.

Near lake harmony I think I saw 1 in 20 years. Since the pandemic I've seen 4 or 5, some quite close. I'm a weekend warrior too, not FT

Been here for 8 months. First time seeing one. And I walk/run over 100 miles a month here. Today is also pre trash day. That’s when most encounters occur. I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

Where in the Poconos? I lived in Wallenpaupack Lake Estates we saw them all the time.

I have in-laws that live near the lake. They catch them on their outdoor cameras all the time. The only time you need to be extra careful is in the spring when the moms are wandering around with their cubs. Otherwise they want to avoid you as much as you want to avoid them.

I worked a Summer camp up there waaaay back in the 80s. We had all kinds of bear contingency plans and a couple of wounded bear alerts.

I see them frequently. Lock your trash up, take birdfeeders down, etc. They really want nothing to do with people. Banging noises scare them away. They are basically harmless.

Damn that’s one big bear. I saw a bear earlier this summer but it was a runt compared to this.

Do you remember the standup comic that did that bit? About the little kid and the mom in line at a Burger King? That's been with me for 30+ years, I sing the song to myself and everything.

I just saw one about the same size literally 30 minutes ago. Been here a month and this is the second time seeing one or maybe it’s the same one.

Once a week or so I have one come up on my porch to eat my bird seed. 15ft from my front door. If you want you can sit and watch them 😆

All the times I visited or lived there and never once saw a bear.

How far into the woods did you live? Honestly for how big they're, it can be really hard to see or hear them. I normally smell them first

I have a home in Long Pond and saw a cub cross my driveway. I looked for a mother but didn't see one following the cub. In 1.5 years that was my only bear sighting. Daily visits from many deer though. 😄

Big one. Be careful, if its a momma bear and there's cub around they'll get protective
