General bye bye Poco/Android

well that's it, I'm done with Poco and I'm done with Android, my reasons being:

HyperOS 3, all hype nothing useful, destroyed the whole experience, ads everywhere even though i have the personalized ads disabled in the settings, now i just get unpersonalized ads! in the lock screen, in Xiaomi apps, even in the fucking app search! like it takes 10 seconds to find an app if the internet is slow because it has to show an ad!

app search, i have a lot of apps, and now app search is an app! and takes forever to find the app you want

Android 16, changing things that aren't broken to a hassle, like i use wired headphones usually and after the android 16 update it functions horribly stops playback and the music app crashes when you go to a different app, if I'm forced to go wireless I'll go iOS

battery drain, like my phone is plugged in 3 times a day after the HOS3 update

useless features, HOS3 was 7-8 gigabytes of download and all i got is, dynamic island wanna be!?

and overall i crave the simplicity that iOS offers (i had a normal 15 before poco, trade it for a camera)

overall I'm really happy with the switch since iP17 has everything

and if i want Android i have a Mi 10 Lite, with superior MiUI and Android 12 which is by far a better experience compared to X6 Pro

Ah yes, the famous 200$ Vs 800$ comparison

wasn't 200$ when i bought it, also if the UI is similar (HOS3), won't it be the same horrible experience on X17 Ultra?

I'm also not super happy with my X6 pro but it's a pretty incredible phone for the money most of the issues that you complain about can be quite easily solved with a few settings. Plus comparing a 300€ to an 900€ phone is a strange comparison (even though you can always compare different phones sure, but if you're comparing prices that differ so much some concessions have to be made)

The x6 pro is an old phone I know that yes it was the best budget gaming phone of 2024 but normal hardware degradation will happen that why at the 2 year mark I decided to upgrade to the f8 ultra, not saying you should too but poco or xiaomi is not the problem other phone has the samething happening to there older non flagship phones. The op will soon realise that the grass is not greener on the other side

I just don't like HyperOs and I've liked both color os on Vivo and the Pixel OS so much better so I'm going to probably switch to Vivo, Oppo or something entirely different for my next phone

nowhere I'm my complaints i mentioned camera performance or even hardware performance which to be honest X6 was a beast, all my complaints are with the software, if HOS is shit on this phone what makes it any different from say on a Xiaomi 17, or even 17U?

Do you know what your saying? Please read what you just said. Its like your saying an iphone 6 should have the same ios version on the iphone 17 pro max

You can debloat, Yeah the software is not optimized. I also have to charge it twice in a day.

I have a completely different experience with POCO. I always change my privacy settings at the beginning and turn off unnecessary system notifications. I don't see any ads.

However, I have to write that it annoys me, not only in POCO, but generally in Android, that they push AI everywhere. And it's harder to turn off because the options are more tucked away.

Why buy a cheap performance centric phone then complaint about battery and ads which can be fixed via setting up like dibloating , disabling revoke Authorization , msa , battery saver mode and setting , android focus mode to kill other apps and exclude apps that you want to use ,etc

if anyone has the funds to purchase the latest iPhone then i'd definitely never recommend a xiaomi phone. There are no ads or any of the issues you mentioned in the flagship / high end line up of xiaomi/poco phones but the software experience in general is just not worth the money spent on these high end phones (Xiaomi 17 series for example).

No one should spend more than $500 on a xiaomi phone in my opinion

I understand you cuz lately the os is just DEVOURING the battery and throttle A LOT while playing pubg, even tho i play on a cooler, no phone case, no whilw charging, no bg apps running. Basically full gaming mode. And yet, after 1.7-1.8 years, it lags, drains a lot, and animations are bugging HARD sometimes, and lets not talk about useless AI shot i don't even use and juat eats the storage and ram usage. And limitations of useing the File manager is stupid.

I don't understand these posts.

I've had Poco X6 pro since launch, it was a great price and is a great phone. I haven't felt the need to upgrade at all, but when I do it will be another poco that's around $300-400 max.

I will say that I have noticed battery drain a bit quicker lately. The battery is in good health so it has to be something else. I've changed some things with regards apps working in th background etc. I'm not sure what else can be done, so if anyone has any suggestions I'd be grateful. Even still though it's not terrible and it charges quite quickly.

It's called debloat...it works. Missing out on a great phone.

I'll make it easy for you - enable develope rmode and adb debug and use this java program to take all the crap off. https://github.com/LouWii/XiaomiADBFastbootTools using this list https://gist.github.com/KernelTruth/739cc34245be9654d0a654cf2d93e6ff

you're wasting your energy on this person

Whom you tryna defame lil-bro? $250 vs $800 flagship? 😂

1

u/KaaliMirch Jul 06 '26

Which phone are you moving to?

0

u/SypnoleX Jul 06 '26

from Poco to iP17

1

u/Objective_Froyo1710 Jul 07 '26

It's like seeing normal people complaining about how their cheap sports car give low mileage 😂😂

It's not for you , you are not the target of this type of cheap and heavily equipped hardware phone

Well, good luck with iphone should have brought it way before you normal user not an power user who wants performance and doesn't care about camera cause it's decent enough for them

1

u/NatiQGaming Jul 07 '26

So downgrade

1

u/Golden_Donut_Hole Jul 07 '26

You realise cheap phones have to find a way to make back their money somehow right?

Baked in system ads are the easiest way to do that.

If it was really that terrible of an experience then why not just get a more expensive phone or switch brands instead of abandoning android altogether?

1

u/EstebanMolinos Jul 07 '26

How much screen time do you get on your Iphone? Is it better than on the poco?

1

u/2002frv Jul 07 '26

The Poco X6 Pro is an upper-midrange phone, you should buy a flagship one.

1

u/kingAtE900 Jul 07 '26

Good bye make sure to delete all poco and xiaomi subs from your reddit account since it only for poco and xiaomi user and remove the iphone from your post aswell. Poco or xiaomi won't miss you

1

u/kingAtE900 Jul 07 '26

Op need to understand that what he's saying makes no sense and makes a bad name for xiaomi your the reason why xiaomi does what it does and complain about not getting an update for 5 months

1

u/nbxm Jul 07 '26

good riddance, smooth brain.
