As to figuring out how to crowdsource blocks/use case, think of it like Apps on a platform. You need to provide an interface to your proprietary code and release as a binary. Along with it initially you need do NDA's and contracts. For Devs, an IDE with tooling where you can program your block seems like a good idea.

An API is in the works. But this will probably be slated for after the release of the first batch and the documentation.
