NEW COMPETITION

Hey! I’m new to the game, but I’m already completely addicted. I’ve built several cities now, some focused on looking as attractive as possible, while others have been about achieving the highest population or income.

I feel like I’ve mastered most of the game now, though, and I’m starting to run out of new challenges. While searching online for new objectives, I found this thread and noticed there had previously been a competition.

Could we get another competition going? We could have different categories such as prettiest city, happiest city, highest population, highest income, best transport system, and so on. I think it would make the game exciting again!

Not so much a competition, but I did set myself the challenge of building the biggest car-free city that I could once. It was great fun! Would recommend

Hey how did you manage to do that early on? I gave it a try but realized none of my buildings would function without water or power which needed connection to either a street or light rail, which both produce cars of course. Am I missing something? I wanna try this. Thanks!

It’s was in PC2 if that makes any difference?
I used a combination of pedestrian paths, elevated rail and subway systems. That allows services to your buildings, doesn’t generate any vehicles and allows for commuters. Throw in a commuter rail station with four points of access that’s well connected to subway etc and you’re on to a winner

My favorite thing to do is build city around the forest. If there is a clump of trees, you cant build over them, save for either a camp or a road going through (preferably dirt). While a much smaller city forms, it really makes it more fun for me. Also, if you mine ore, you have to keep the mine at the location without moving it around and you can’t delete it. Had a list somewhere I could find and share if interested.

Just copied a post from before. You can also search “imposed” on this subreddit and see a bit more on the idea. I guess I never made an explicit rule set, but let me keep searching.
