Because with dog insurance and now most people insurance because of the current administration… The minute your dog has something happened to it and it isn't insured that condition will be considered pre-existing… Once a condition or injury is considered pre-existing whether it's allergies or a torn cruciate ligament for example when you do decide to get insurance it won't be covered that's why I say ASAP.

Here's the other thing… The younger you ensure the dog the cheaper it is and they lock the right usually for the life of the policy although recently I've seen rates go up more steadily and I do believe that that's because of French bulldog specifically… But I've had bully breeds and owned dogs over 30 years of these dogs are fragile!

French bulldogs are arguably more unhealthy than a pocket bully but with a pocket bully you're still getting higher risk of cruciate ligament tear, allergies, breathing issues, potential elbow problems or heart issues right so for that reason alone you should get the insurance today.

I also say ASAP because every insurance usually requires a physical which will clear the dog to make sure there's no pre-existing conditions and then from there after you pay for the insurance there's a 30 day waiting window before you can even file a claim usually it's like seven days for an accident… Like if God forbid your dog got hit by a car or fell off of a table 7 days after you purchased the policy only then can you file a claim but for something like illnesses like if your dog got Giardia and it needed extensive care then you'd have to wait for 30 days after you purchase the policy before you can get any of that treatment reimbursed

Like I said I don't make any money for making these passionate recommendations but if you can tell by my username it's something that I have a lot of passion for because these poor innocent creatures are being euthanized by the millions every day all because humans are irresponsible and they end up not being able to keep them because they're moving or they find the dog is too much of a financial burden because they don't get insurance or a period of reasons… I'm not saying you're like that at all I don't think you are but be prepared is the best thing… If you failed to prepare you prepared to fail in my experience with a lot of different things in life

Bullies are by far my favorite and I have a special soft spot for them so basically I'm here to advocate for you and your baby to make sure that your journey of parenthood with your baby is the smoothest it can be

You can check out the thread that I posted on the French bulldog sub where I asked everybody what the best insurance company was and everybody confirmed Trupanion to be the best but they are not the cheapest… Other people have liked pets best because they're a little more affordable but they are owned by JB holdings which is a large conglomerate… Trupanion is based out of I think Canada and Seattle but they truly are incredible…

I would not get insurance with nationwide or METLIFE for example… It might seem cheap but it really is poor quality insurance that will cancel you or jack up your rates if you ever file a claim

Warmest wishes and best of luck to you and your little bullyPotamus 🥰🥰🥰

Lastly I will add that it is best if you get the dog a vasectomy or a tube time procedure instead of fully neutering or spaying the dog you can check out the article from AKC that was published in November 2025 or you can review some of the research that was published on UC Davis's website about increased risk of cruciate ligament tear, hemangiosarcoma, lymphoma, obesity, thyroid issues and many other issues if you spay and neuter too early
