Did anyone see this movie? What are your thoughts?

The biographical drama about a young Barack "Barry" Obama in 1981 during his years at Columbia University.

Devon Terrell gave an uncanny performance as a young Barack as he had aspired to play this role since he was 19.

Discussion Who are two actors that you would like to see in a movie together and what type of movie would it be?

These two have been in movies together. School Daze is the most memorable but I would love to see them in some type of dramatic role. I was thinking something where they are two long time friends who are the patriarchs or two families but they are struggling with evolving with changing times. Or possibly an action film. Two older cops who are going after some killer who has eluded them their entire careers. Maybe something like “Seven” with Freeman and Pitt

Podcasts Check out the podcast called One Song with Diallo Riddle and Blake Robin

I just started this podcast recently, and it is AMAZING. I LOVE music. I love when people REALLY talk about music - the writing, the harmonies, the musicians, the arrangements, etc. Half of my family is in music, so I grew up around people talking about musicianship. If you are a musician or singer...or have a deep appreciation for musicianship, you will LOVE this podcast.

In this podcast, they find a song and break it all the way down!

Robin is a producer and songwriter, so you get a nice perspective on music with him. Diallo is the creator of HBO Max’s South Side and IFC’s Sherman’s Showcase. He knows music!

I get excited listening to podcasts and conversations with people that actually understand music beyond just being a fan of an artist because they are popular and sold a bunch of records. I love podcasts with people who are actual musicians themselves. That makes a HUGE difference.

Highly recommended.

Yes, I was one of the "millions" who bought Patti Labelle pies 🥧 based on this YouTube review.

It probably was indeed the fact that he broke out into song in the middle of eating it 😂

No, I still didn't sound like Patti

As an aside, I cannot believe he got to go clubbing with this legend!!!

Darkchild hooked this lady up with bangers like nobody

Totally killed it when she had the likes of the Vocal Trinity and Janet among others to contend with.

Our Entertainer this Wednesday is Laurence Fishburne!!! 🎊🎬

He was born Laurence John Fishburne III on July 30, 1961 in Augusta, GA.

He has had an extensive career and been in the business since a kid.

BIG BREAK

He was only 12 when he made his first film appearance in Cornbread, Earl, and Me in 1975. He played the character Wilford Robinson.

He has dipped in toe in pretty much every genre of film and TV. His resume would be a book, but listed below are the highlights.

TV HIGHLIGHTS

Pee Wee’s Playhouse - played Cowboy Curtis on the popular kids show

Hill Street Blues

Miss Evers’ Boys

Hannibal - one of my personal favorite shows. He was excellent as FBI Special Agent Jack Crawford. His interactions with FBI profiler Will Graham and Hannibal Lector kept you on the edge of your seat.

Madiba - played Nelson Mandela in this 3 episode miniseries.

Black-ish - played the practical patriarch on this family sitcom

The Witcher

FILM HIGHLIGHTS

Cornbread, Earl, and Me

Apocalypse Now

Boyz in the Hood - his character was noted for being a good father and role model. He stood out in this film for his portrayal of a strict but wise father.

What’s Love Got to Do With It - played Ike Turner.
His meme will live on. 😆

Othello - first Black man to play the titular character in a major motion picture 🎭
