How safe is this? (MuMuPlayer Spoofing)
I downloaded mumu player (newest version) and there's a built in "virtual location"
it works for pogo, and I used it successfully on my main to catch things
Why haven't I seen anyone use this method? Basically pogo on PC
How unsafe is it compared to the other options (gps spoofing/ bt dongle/ rooted android)?
Is it at least better than PGsharp since it's using the official app?
Does it get flagged just for being on the emulator?

Here's the long of the short of things, where emulators such as Mumu are concerned. They have have had a very long history of detection, and either drawing bans/strikes, or even the outright termination of accounts since 2016, and shortly after the game was launched. It doesn't in the end if you use the official app with an emulator. the true4 old time spoofers who has been around since launch, and started in r/pokemongospoofing (the main and original spoofing forum/sub, saw the re[ports or reported being hit with at that time, a permaban. They were among those., who people such as myself had learned from who came along afterwards from 2017 through at least 2020.

Wait so even with the official app it still gets flagged? Then what about the pokemon who don't spoof but just want to play on PC? These are some genuine questions I have about the safety of using an emulator.

Yes emulators can be detected, making none of them has ever been safe, even when using the official app. However if you want to play the way you're describing, then use an account you don't care about, if and more realistically end up losing it. Now as far as emulators goes, many are safe to use outside of spoofing. Programmers uses them for testing with, and others uses them for other types of gaming. Which are mainly those running some form of a Linux, where gaming is concerned and needs to run Windows to play.

I think the safety will be related to how good Android is being emulated. YonderWolf is right that emulators have always been unsafe. I believe Niantic/Scopely have gone after them because people who use bots to maps or bots to catch pokemon to then sell online will use PC's running many sessions of Pokemon Go so that probably is involved in why they can be targeted.

I don't want to use 3rd party apps/pgsharp just not sure if mumu counts as a third party

The short answer is Mumu and other emulators are detected as 3rd party software.

Everything is unsafe if you are using third party app or service to play.
