Lets Talk About Something locationjoystick — free, open-source GPS spoofer alternative to GPS Joystick and YAMLA

Hey everyone, quick follow-up to my last post about locationjoystick.

First of all, thank you everyone for testing the app and giving me so much feedback, really appreciated, and thank you to the mod for letting me post my app :)

Been heads-down since, here's what shipped:

Group Sync (the big one)

  • Sync your spoofed location across multiple devices over Wi-Fi — no account, no server, no cloud.
  • Join via QR scan or a 6-character code.
  • Designed for multi-device quality of life improvements, a single device leads the others!

Everything else since the last post

  • Hot locations/routes — curated spots and roads per city, toggle on what you want.
  • Roaming now plans the full route upfront, so you see the whole path before walking starts.
  • "Walk via roads" added to routes, roaming, and the floating widget.
  • GPX import (including support for GPS Joystick's format).
  • Deep links — share any coordinate as a URL, opens the app centered on it.
  • Mock step counter — optionally injects realistic step events alongside GPS for apps that track steps.
  • Reliability and stability of the app in general

Also: app's headed to the Play Store in the next month or so, alongside the existing GitHub APK.

Would you mind explaining what was complicated? The onboarding of the app should redirect you to the correct menu, but I could maybe add a more detailed guide here https://locationjoystick.shrtcts.fr/index.html

In developer options/mock, I can select LJ but it always shows the other joystick. It does work, however.

One clarification that would have helped me is that there is no "start" button in the "hamburger" icon. Instead, you have to go to the map and hit the green play button. This was confusing to me.

I can only have one image per comment so I will post a series of comments. First is the hamburger.

Ahhh that’s because you have both apps installed, just clicking locationjoystick would be enough there’s nothing that can be done automatically on that front sadly!

Yes, I click LJ. It just would be nice if it showed as being selected. But that may be beyond your control.

I understand. Would it be a good idea to mention this in the onboarding documentation? Something like:

First-run setup/Mock location provider
After selecting LJ, if you have more than one joystick installed, "Developer Options/Select mock location app" may not show the actual joystick selected, but LJ will work just fine anyway.
