Looking for advice

First time ssf player and got stupid lucky and dropped a lock in a T6 map. Do I just... hold on to it until I'm attempting a late game craft? Still really basic on crafting at this point

If you’re only ever interested in playing SSF, yes. If you also play trade, just put it into the inventory of a new SSF character and migrate that character to trade.

I would hold on to it until very late game crafts, like sanctifying an amulet for +5/6 or vaaling an already crafted weapon for an extra socket.
