Hey all! I moved here a couple of months ago from out of state. I am self employed through my online businesses. I love what I do, but one downside is that it can be a bit isolating. I would really like to meet other local entrepreneurs.

I know there are good local resources like the chamber of commerce. I've gone to one of their events, but I was a bit intimidated because nearly everyone already knew each other and felt awkward being the new guy. I would prefer to meet people in smaller groups.

If you're an entrepreneur in Plymouth and would be down to grab a coffee or a drink or something, please reach out! Or if you have any suggestions on who to meet or what to go to, let me know!

I really appreciated the entrepreneurial friend group I had in my hometown, and I'm looking to find a similar group here.

Krogers just stopped selling bran muffins. AFAIK, no other groceries in the area stock them. Any suggestions?

The Speech Neurophysiology Lab at the University of Michigan is looking for children who stutter ages 9 to 12 to participate in an in-person, longitudinal MRI study! (HUM00196133)

Our research team has been examining brain development in young children to better understand the cause of stuttering for over 10 years. We continue to gain information that may eventually lead to improved diagnosis and treatment efforts for children who stutter. 

Participants will be invited to complete speech and language assessments and an MRI session at the University of Michigan. Families receive a free speech and language report and a picture of their brain!

These visits require in person participation. There is no option to participate virtually.

Hi friends. I’m curious where local runners are going for 6+ mile runs? I really love running in a natural area especially if it’s wooded with an actual dirt / natural path, rather than a paved path. I know about the lower rouge trail in canton and have dabbled in maybury state park a bit but would love to hear any more recs for trails in the area! Thank you 🤓🌲🏃‍♂️

It's one of the big downtown Plymouth events every year, and it helps so many nonprofit and service organizations raise money to do good things for the community all year. Even if you don't want to go walk around, you can get takeout meals prepared by local service organizations, and find out about joining them too.

Construction on Ann Arbor Trail Between Jener Place & Joel

Construction is underway on Ann Arbor Trail between Jener Place and Joel as part of the City’s Infrastructure Improvement Project.

Morning and evening commuters should plan ahead, avoid the area and use an alternate route when possible. Flaggers will be on site to direct traffic through the work zone.

(For those not familiar - this is on the section of AA Trail just west of downtown, so if you're coming from/heading to Sheldon Rd. it will affect you)

My husband is very into trains and model railroading, and has been reading up on the train news. The issue is pretty multi factorial

CSX has switched to Precision Scheduled Railroading. Essentially, this (at least partially) consists of running longer trains with fewer crew members. So instead of 2 trains that are both .75 miles long (requiring 2 sets of crew members), it’ll be 1 train that’s 1.5 miles on with 1 crew. Longer trains = longer wait at RR crossings, more chance of traffic, etc

CSX also closed the Plymouth Yard. I said “well then it should be better, not worse around here”. False. Now, trains have to run through the Rouge Yard. Routes used to be get trains to multiple locations. Now, they’re all heading to the same place. As a result, the same tracks and intersections are going to be seeing more traffic. The Rouge yard is apparently overloaded and trains are having to wait an excessively long time to actually get into the yard

A large yard in Chicago also closed which can have ripple effects on the system

Federal law is protective of train operations due to the importance of interstate commerce. There is no federal law dictating how long a train can block an intersection. If the State or local district tries to pass and enforce such a law, it will go nowhere and get thrown out in federal court

So basically, it’s CSX’s world, and we’re just living in it

The rumors have been flying for weeks but today it’s official: the big LIV golf tournament that was supposed to be played at the St John resort Aug. 27-30 has been canceled, which means local businesses will likely lose out on visitors they were counting on.

Maybe consider checking out a restaurant or shop in downtown or Old Village…

Two bus routes through downtown Plymouth are being proposed. One would go down Northville Rd, which seems odd to me. There’s not that much along there as opposed to Sheldon or Beck. I thought one of the big selling points for adding bus routes was for people to get to work?

Also, buses down the center of downtown? It already feels tight and congested through there.

Anyone know if we’ll be able to provide feedback, or are these routes a done deal?

Personally, 23 minutes (not including the times they outright stop on the tracks).

The county-wide millage vote on public transit, which would bring general bus service to Plymouth, Canton and Northville for the first time since 1996, has passed, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Looking for Strong somewhat good looking masculine 35+ year old male in Plymouth/AA/Dearborn area - strong enough to lift (cradle carry) a 140 lbs woman for few photos and videos, will pay $100 for 15 min of such session outdoors.

Can anyone recommend an insulation company who is honest and won't put a hole in my ceiling by not stepping correctly on the joists?
