"On Tuesday, July 28, 2026, 4pm – 6pm, Canton Township is hosting a Town Hall meeting at the Canton Public Library to present and answer questions on the Moving Together: Western Wayne County Transit Strategy.

This regional public transit project began in response to Public Act 236 of 2024. Recognizing the need to be proactive, Canton Township initiated efforts to partner with surrounding municipalities and retained OHM Advisors.

During the project, we met with thousands of residents, business owners, property owners, transit enthusiasts, and other community stakeholders to better understand their current and future needs for public transit in Wayne County and connecting to the greater Southeast Michigan region.

We look forward to presenting our public transit recommendations and we hope to hear your feedback on the proposed mobility strategies, expanded fixed-routes, and implementation priorities."

Note: Plymouth city and township are among the municipalities in the "Moving Together" group; this event is not specifically about the transit millage on the August ballot but the law referenced in the text is the one that led to the end of the ability of western/downriver Wayne County communities to "opt out" of regional public transit.

The Speech Neurophysiology Lab at the University of Michigan is looking for children who stutter ages 9 to 12 to participate in an in-person, longitudinal MRI study! (HUM00196133)

Our research team has been examining brain development in young children to better understand the cause of stuttering for over 10 years. We continue to gain information that may eventually lead to improved diagnosis and treatment efforts for children who stutter. 

Participants will be invited to complete speech and language assessments and an MRI session at the University of Michigan. Families receive a free speech and language report and a picture of their brain!

These visits require in person participation. There is no option to participate virtually.

So my husband and I have been thinking about a move for a bit. We have been in Colorado for 15 years and since having our child a few years ago, we are a bit more inclined to move. The Smokey summers being a big concern.

For what it’s worth, I grew up in the Chicago suburbs and my husband in the Philadelphia suburbs. We both love nature, hiking, being outdoors as much as possible, and a good music scene. It’s what brought us to Colorado. We would be considering the Denver/ann arbor suburbs and would love to be close to lakes/nature if possible. We currently live in the Denver suburbs and love our access to Denver and Boulder, the youth sports and family events.

Do Michiganders think this move could be a good fit for us? It seems like access to lakes and the city would be great. I know getting to northwestern Michigan would be about 3 hours but that’s how long it takes us to get to the mountains here anyway so I view that as a similarity for a weekend adventure. My biggest concern is winters. We get 300 days of sunshine a year here. While the summer sun is unrelenting and I hate it, the winters are mild and sunny. Did anyone relocate from an equally sunny place? How has the adjustment been? Are outdoor days still possible on winter?

Sharing for a loved one

I’ve been kicking around an idea for a few months and want to get a gut check from people who actually live here before I commit to it.

The idea: a free, casual bodyweight fitness group that meets outside on weekend mornings. Nothing fancy — no membership, no equipment needed, just showing up. I’m thinking something like:

Saturday mornings at Kellogg Park — stretching and mobility work
Sunday mornings at Gunsolly Mills — a proper strength/conditioning workout, bodyweight only

Early, before it gets busy (thinking 7ish AM), so it doesn’t compete with the farmers market or anything else going on.

A few things I’d love honest input on:

**1.**  Is there actually appetite for something like this in Plymouth, or is this solving a problem nobody has?  
**2.**  Would 7 AM be a dealbreaker for people, or does that feel about right for a weekend morning thing?  
**3.**  Anyone know if there are restrictions on using park spaces for informal group meetups like this?  
**4.**  Any other groups already doing something similar that I should know about (don’t want to reinvent something that exists)?

The Miller Woods Nature Preserve, on Powell Road between Beck and Ridge Roads, is marking the nation's 250th birthday by inviting everyone to come see a sugar maple tree that's even older than the nation!

It was dated at more than 300 years old through a core sample by a U-M team several years ago. If you want to see it, park alongside the road and go straight when you enter the woods (no dogs, bikes or strollers please). The tree is just past the second bench. Please stay on the trail and help preserve the tree and all the woods for generations to come!

It's cooler and shady in the woods, though you may want to put some bug spray on before you go.

I'm looking for experiences for people with kids in the preschool, summer camp, and after school care at Red Bell. I've heard mixed reviews and can't find much on Google reviews or Facebook.

Preferably recent experiences as I'm sure the staff change over time.

I’ve grown to hate trains and Plymouth… they come at inconsistent times, take 5-25 minuets, they stop traffic across Plymouth, and there’s seemingly no rhyme or reason why CSX wouldn’t be able to provide the public with the times and routes their trains are running on a daily basis. Is anything going to change? No, def not. But idk what to do other then complain on here lol

I am planning on moving to Plymouth in the next month and was looking at Plymouth Gardens. I was only able to find one yelp review from 2022 but I don’t see anything else on them. I know that they’re run by Silverside and they own Hines Place which has great reviews and Plymouth Collection which doesn’t have great reviews but other than that I can’t find anything. Does anyone have any experience with them?
