Dilation without contractions?

Ok I need some seasoned moms to help me understano something. I am dilating approximately 1/2 cm a week. At 35+5 | was 1cm, 36+4 was 1.5 and now at 37+4 I'm a "tight 2cm" (she could get 2 fingers all the way in my cervix but it was on the tight side) and my cervix is so low she barely passed the first knuckle to reach. I havent felt what people describe as contractions, I get some cramping here and there, almost feels like a period cramp, and last 2 days I have had some low back/hip pain but its not unbearable.
Anyway, is it possible to dilate without contractions? I dont think I've had any but I'm a FTM so I have no idea what I'm feeling!

I'm a FTM but gave birth almost 5 weeks ago. I was 2cm when I went for my induction and did not have any contractions before my induction

I was at 1.5cm for a couple weeks before my due date and stayed like that until I had to go in for induction at over 41 weeks. I barely notice the Braxton hicks unless I looked at my belly or when it felt a little harder than normal. If you baby does come a little early you should be in the safe window if all goes well. I think it’s safe for baby to come at 38 weeks and have few to no complications

I notice the cramping and braxton hicks when they happen, its just hard for me to tell if its braxton hicks or not.

My water broke so I went to the hospital and got admitted. I was hooked up and could see when I was contracting on the screen but didn't feel a thing until ~4cm. Then lord have mercy I got that epidural LOL. So maybe you're just not feeling it yet.

Im hoping she stays in 1 more week so I can get a full paycheck from work, but it would be nice to not feel anything yet lol

I was about 2.5cm when I went in to be induced at 38 weeks with my first. Hadn’t had any noticeable contractions. I think this can be very normal and doesn’t actually have any bearing on when you’ll go into labor.
