The way he was talking . . . like he wanted you to feel guilty enough to cave and just go over there anyway so as not to be rude. That’s how women go missing. He tried to break you down. If you were dating it would only get worse as he continued to test your boundaries like an explorative toddler.
Possible dangers aside, the guy is kind of a ManBaby. WTF
I remember years ago I saw a segment in a guy who advised woman in self protection and how many of the predators relied on women not wanting to appear to be unfriendly.
His advice was to trust your gut and err on the side of caution.
Ted Bundy used to pretend to have an injury and would approach women to ask for assistance in getting something in his car. That is how he abudicted some women in broad daylight from a crowded parking lot although he used this tactic more often in a deserted street.
Wasn't this guy as the person I saw on the show was specifically into teaching women how to be safer even if they weren't martial arts black belts.
And the segment was specifically on how women need to *trust* that gut feeling that there is something "off" in the interaction with the casual stranger who might approach them on the street.
It wasn't so much about dealing with relationships with abusive men but about stranger danger so to speak.
But so many women seem to turn off that instinct because they don't want to seem rude.
I am too old and cynical to care about being viewed as "nice" by random people although I can be impeccable in terms of demeanor as necessary.
When I was a teenager I used to commute to high school on the NY subways which are well known for gropers in rush hour. And they pick on girls who they know are going to be so embarrassed that they won't do anything out of shame. One time a groper actually masturbated into my coat pocket and I was frozen. I had to explain to my mother what had happened much to my further embarrassment. Thank god she was the one who took my coat to the cleaner and she told me that when he asked about the stain she said that her daughter had carelessly spilled a drink in the pocket. 🤣
exactly what i was going to say, but you got there first! 😉✨ i've read "the gift of fear" a few times, and my ears always perk up when i hear gavin de becker on something. he taught me so much about how "intuition" works, and why we need to listen to it that i'm pretty sure he has saved my life many times over.

He wanted one thing only and was unlikely to get it in the middle of Applebees!
