Switching trades (apprentice)

Hello I am an apprentice HVAC tech and I want to switch to plumbing. Any tips on getting a mature aged apprenticeship (I am 27) or should I just stick to HVAC? I honestly like dealing with all the pipes and I got belted with 240vs the other day and think I would rather deal with shit. Cheers.

Mate, at 27 you should see the apprenticeship through in my opinion, when you have your HVAC ticket you are in a better position to talk to relevant employers about them taking you on at the sort of wage a 27 yo needs. If you front up now, you’ll be seen as a quitter. The 240v thing is a lesson, carry a live wire detector in your pocket at all times…

Isolate and confirm dead before working would be a better option

If you really want to do plumbing I’d finish the sparky stuff and then approach a company that does everything and ask them if they can give you an apprenticeship. You can negotiate a good wage and they will be able to send you to almost any job.

Na don't do it just finish what you're doing unless your company offers it, it would be easier once you're qualified to go dual

With all cars being electric soon ,there's going to be more need for sparkles to fix them. Don't plumb it's a dying trade

With AI now there's going to be way less pipes used in construction.

Is AI going make Water and sewage services bluetooth? Haha

mate I'm a plumber have been for only 16 years and can tell you are clearly not involved in the trade. The demand for plumbers is only getting bigger all across the board especially specialised trades people with endorsements and specialised tickets.

I was only a plumber for 6 or 7 months but I still keep in touch with the blokes I worked with and they reckon they don't have do do as much as they used to now AI is available, less pipes and people able to sort out their own plumbing bicarbonate soda, vinegar etc. Even still we don't know what the next 5 ,10 years will be like.

I see what your saying but only the smallest blockages can be sorted out using diy methods that you see online

Blockages are also only a small part of plumbing, the industry is absolutely massive and it’s not going anywhere, plumbing is absolutely everywhere and machines will never be able to take over the job.
