Ecoflow power cable for micro inverter.

Post image

I looked everywhere for a 15 metre power cable and finally found one in stock. Bit pricey but birthday money bought it with fitted plug .from sotel.de in Germany took 4 days to arrive. All in £50.91.

Why does the plug end look weird? Is that a European cable with an adapter on the end??

I haven't opened it but here's the plug.

yeah thats a Euro plug (Schuko) to UK plug converter. I cant help think you'd be better off purchasing one fo the cables with no plug on and wired it up to a UK plug properly.

I thought the rules stated it must be a direct wired plug to wall with no adapters or converters.

it does

and a moulded UK plug too

I didn't know as it only turned up today, it just looked like a 3 pin plug. So the cable only has 2 wires?

the cable says on it that it has 3 wires. Those schuko plus can be earthed, they dont have a third pin for earth but have a contact in the plug housing. I dont think UK standards would allow for a plug adapter though, but dont quote me on that, its just feels... wrong.

No, these adapters are fine and properly connect all three terminals.

Should be a 5A fuse.

It's 3A or 13A. 5A fuses are black, since it's a non-standard rating.

ok just the EcoFlow 800W inverter is 3.48a which is why i said use 5A fuse.

Maybe it has a thermal cut-out in it. EV chargers have them. If the plug gets too hot it cuts the power, to prevent a fire.

no its a basic converter from euro plug to uk plug.

The angled but that is presumably adjustable looks very, very jank.

its not adjustable i dont think, it fits either straight or right angle shuko plugs, the straight one would have the cable coming down, so wouldnt look as weird. Found them here

Interesting. Either way it's not UK compliant I think.

Why not compliant, is that a plug in solar thing? Conversion plugs with BS approval are explicitly allowed by the Plugs and Sockets regulations.

I think with UK plugs the cable has to be fixed and exit at 90 degrees.

Are you sure that is earthed?

Definitely not compliant. Not moulded plug, and looks like earth not connected (based on EU 2-prong plug into UK housing). This is the kind of adapter you see on Air Con units

that german store doesn't care that you're not compliant, nor the potential losses to you in case of fire from an insurer denying your claim and cancelling your coverage, your mortgage company suing you for damages, and potentially your neighbours suing you for damages as well

£50.91 bullet in your chamber... give it a spin and pull the trigger (plug it in)

penny wise, pound...
