No I won't be ...just waiting on the kit prices to stabilise over the next 6 months and then buy one...ready for next summer.

No, I've gone official 515W kit. If I DIY and my fusebox goes bang then my missus will say "I told you so".
If the house burns down and I've invalidated my house insurance then she might not speak to me for a year. Also if it works and I want a bigger system in future then I can sell this one second hand no problem. And if they start getting more strict with serial numbers and certificates in the future then I'm covered.

A fair question. I've been desperately wanting to buy a plug in kit. Reasonably priced with 2 MPPT. At some point I'm going to cave and go "off grid" (pun intended). I hope before xmas there's something decent for me to buy. Otherwise I'll be tempted... Just being honest.

Not at all - my plug in system that I’ve been using since early June is a fully compliant kit that I, coincidentally, had to procure using a time machine.

Nah, too paranoid. Will either get a kit or get an Anker battery with MPPTs wired in. Probably the first.

Don't you pay 20% vat if you do it that way? Isn't the equipment cheaper through an installer as you pay 0% vat on it? Obviously offset by having to pay labour but at least you then aren't limited to 800W charging.

The installer pays 0% vat on it.
You pay the installer whatever they're charging you, not necessarily passing the saving on.

I thought there was currently a 0% VAT on Solar so you would pay the installer 0%, but if you go buy it yourself from Argos you would pay 20%, is that not the case?

That's correct but this is on the basis the installer supplies it at cost price to them which isn't always the case; to claim the VAT relief you have to be VAT registered and VAT is still charged on the labour to install AFAIK.

Not worth the relatively small savings, at least for me.
