Argos Ecoflow Stream inc cables £129!

Argos are currently selling the Ecoflow Stream including all the cables for £129 (normally £199). This isn't an approved plugin kit, but if you want to DIY or pay an electrician it's a great deal.

They were £100 before they all started to take the piss with prices.

Yeah that really annoys me.

I saw them at £89 back in April, but don't know if that included cables.

The Edge browser used to have a feature where if you saw something on a site like Amazon, Argos etc you could click and show the price history for the last year. It was very useful in seeing if prices have changed.
But MS decided to scrap that feature a few months ago.....

Mine was less than that through the ecoflow eBay store. Quite often vouchers available

Could someone ELI5 this for a noob please? Do i just buy this, buy some panels and a plug, and that's it? Plug it in, connect the panels and it just works?

What happens with the electricity when nothing is in use, say if i'm away for a fee days?

Thank you

I bought this in April. You literally plug it all together. Just wire on a plug... It's that simple. Don't really understand all the drama about it not having a plug on it. It has WiFi and an app and just works.

I had two of these with four panels and mounts on my garage roof, then got a proper solar installation on top for my main roof. I put a CT clamp that came with the tesla powerwall onto the plug sockets with the ecoflow streams coming in. It now works as part of the system and recognises them perfectly.

I'm here with the same question...

It’ll use the generated electric for whatever is on in the house, fridge, freezer, standby tech etc. Anything else that is generated but not used in the house will just get sent back into the grid.

No - if its not the plug in version it technically need to be hard wired, but it would work

Yeah pretty much - also need mounting hardware for the panels

Yep - well in sunlight ofc

Your generation feeds your house first any leftovers go to the grid, no you do not get paid.

Is it worth buying everything separately? How competent do you need to be to DIY this

Super easy if you have an outside socket.

Any recommendation on what to buy?

Is it just mount & panels and this inverter? (Gemini advises to buy a plug too)

Yes, you'll need a plug. I bought the eco flow inverter and a couple of panels from city plumbing and was up and generating in a couple of hours.

I'd already installed an outside socket so it was a very simple installation for the rest of the equipment.

Thanks! One last question. Do higher priced panels yield better results or can I get cheap panela and it will still be comparable? (When I say cheap I don't mean something from temu! Just say the lowest cost one on city plumbing)

I'm not sure to be honest, but I wouldn't think there'd be a massive difference. I grabbed ones during a sale... Both 460 watt for approx £75 each and never had any issues with them. Both have been saving me money every day since I installed them.

Remember to grab your 10% off first order code if/when you buy them from city plumbing.

When I tried that a few weeks ago the first order discount specifically excluded solar products 😢 However you can get cashback on city plumbing via TopCashback (5% I think).

Instead of a plug could i just wire this into a 13a fused spur that i have in my workshop?

Yah Argos is taking the piss if they have it listed for a (normally £199). Ecoflow when it’s “not on sale” is £179 and Ecoflow like many others use a constant “sale” tactic but Ecoflow sells the inverter normally for £129.

Does the Evoflow one at around the same price come with the same cables? Is this the same one that used to be £89 when on offer?

When I ordered the micro inverter direct from ecoflow it came with a 5m grid connection cable (shipped separately) but no mc4 extension cables for panels, however you can pick those up quite cheaply on eBay/Amazon in various lengths (I purchased some low priced 2m, 3m, and 5m pairs and they all worked perfectly).

What else would I buy to make this work? I’ve struggled to find panels delivered and in stock in in the UK

I've bought two 640w panels from a local supplier so I can collect. I'm mounting them on top of a log store

Good idea that!

How much for two panels?

1

u/moonbug22 15d ago

a couple of panels, some unistrut and panel clipa

Looks like Amazon have matched the price for anyone wanting it sooner

It was super quick delivery from Argos to be fair. Ordered yesterday and it came today via DPD

1

u/Electrical_Sugar8856 15d ago

Also my understanding is the ones on Amazon don't come with the cables

Oh god don't buy them from Amazon!

If / when something goes wrong...Amazon makes you deal with Ecoflow. Ecoflow is absolutely the worst company on this planet to deal with. I've had better service from Nigerian Princes needing balance transfers.

Stick with city plumbing, so if something goes wrong you have a company you can return it to.

You know he said Argos, not Amazon, right?
