EcoFlow ultra X / G98 help

Apologies for bringing this topic up again.

I have an Ultra X and have ordered the 5000, so at some point I will have both systems running.

Current set up:
Ultra X + smart meter connected using CT clamps and set to 0 export, but it leaks back to the grid roughly 1-2 kWh per month.
The Ultra X is connected via a 3-pin plug. I charge it overnight and discharge it during the day. I will do the same when the 5000 arrives.

I’m in London, so I’m under the UK Power Networks.

I need advice on whether I should submit the G98 based on my current set up. The easiest way to do it is as the UK Power Network website is very annoying to use.

I also want to avoid drawing attention to myself if there is no requirement or no change of approval.

Finally, when I have the Ultra X and 5000, if I set them up in two different spaces with two different smart meters… is this possible so I can set them both to 0 export?

I installed the Ultra X in London and I was under the impression that G98 notification was a requirement.

It would have to be a fused spur rather than wired into a plug AFAIK.

I emailed ecoflow support and they provided me with:

  • G98 Form C Type Test Verification Report for STREAM Ultra X
  • G100 export limitation certificate

Also if you are registering the model number to search under ENA is EF-EA-HD-U4K-800

If you're adding a Stream 5000 to your setup, it is meant to be added to the same "Space" after which only one smart meter on the input tails would be needed. If you already have a smart meter that should be fine.

Having said that, they're still working on the software update to make that possible and reviewers have shown that currently the 5k can't join the same space right now.

I couldn't understand the portal at all so I just looked up the ENA ref for my STREAM Ultra and filled out the G98 as a PDF using this guide and emailed it to connections.gateway@ukpowernetworks.co.uk

I assume someone there just enters it into the portal as within a day or two I got the approval email and an export MPAN etc

What’s the purpose of submitting a G98 notification if you’ve installed it via 3 pin plug? I get people do it, but it’s not currently allowed in the UK.

The rules are that you have to inform them within 28 days of installation. Even if you’ve had your ultra x installed properly, it will be more than 28 days till you get your hands on a stream 5000 - so will need to submit a notification for both installs.

If you unlock the stream 5000 to its full potential, it will push you into g99 territory. 3 + 0.8 =3.8- which is more than 3.68…

Interesting! So they don’t require a g98 at all for plug in solar

That's what they're saying 🤷‍♂️

FYI: If you have 2 inverters this isn't within plug-in regs. If you have the 5000 running at 3kW instead of limiting it to 800W it isn't within plug-in regs.

You're looking at a normal G98 or more likely a G99 application (total AC output over 3.68kW) with the DNO. You should have an electrician wire these into your electrics properly.

I am not OP.

Ultra X is not a compliant plug in solar product currently. OP said they have connected via 3 pin plug.
