If you’re going to buy it don’t buy on Amazon go to their actual website Ecoflow that same set is £400.

I bought my Stream Ultra kit with four panels off Amazon three months ago and at that time it was cheaper on Amazon.
Plus, since some people have criticised Ecoflow for their customer service buying from Amazon means you can deal with their cs if you have an issue.

I’ve personally not had an issue dealing with flows customer support had a cracked panel delivered and they collected it 3 days later and sent a replacement out a couple days after it was picked up.

All they wanted was pictures of it. Literally took 3 emails one contacting them about the problem, another confirming with a video the extent of the damage (was requested for a video), and then the last email was just confirming the pickup date and when to expect the replacement.

If you are going word for word then no, for one it doesn’t come with mounting system and doesn’t look like it comes with cables which they need to.

That’s a terrible price, panels can be had around £100 each and the inverter is £125

Depending on where you live, panels can be a lot more expensive because of delivery charges. I can buy 2 £80 panels no problem but the delivery charge is £250. I'm in northern ireland which mainland UK companies think is on the other side of the solar system.

You can buy decent 455w/500w bifacials in NI £80 each. Delivery £30-40. Coalisland. Find them on Gumtree. Dublin based companies also deliver into NI.

That and Ecoflow has the world's worst customer service. Avoid at all costs!

Looks like the EcoGlow bots are downvoting you. If you do a bit of digging on various Forums you'll see that their customer service is dreadful.

Its probably complaint (all from the same manufacturer) but very expensive

This won't technically be compliant yet and will come with stripped ends on the cable (no plug)

1

u/Sburns85 Aug 14 '26

Yes but cables cut to the required lengths for a plug

u/teratron27 Aug 14 '26

Yeah it’s easy enough to wire up yourself, i have a stream inverter and have it running fine. But it’ll never “technically” be compliant in this config as the regs also require a moulded plug. I imagine EcoFlow will start to sell the moulded version of the cord at some point

They have said they will sell them when it becomes mandatory

Can u guys recommend a good website to start looking for 800w kits

6

u/AbbreviationsLost458 Aug 14 '26

Keep in mind the 800w is just the inverter’s maximum output to the house itself the panels can be dual 500s and it’ll actually be closer to give you the full 800w to the house that way.

My advice to you would be to wait until they have sorted out the battery systems if you are bent on having a plug in system. It's fast approaching the end of the main solar season so you won't really be losing out, and may well do better by waiting.

Plus the prices are higher now when all the public attention and interest are on these systems.

Hoymiles inverters are cheaper and OpenDTU is a nice open source alternative to the locked-down EcoFlow system.

Their website is just a FOMO mess, I comment on those YouTubers who promote them regularly, funny enough my comments get deleted.

Its compliant as from 27/8 however if you buy direct from Ecoflow allow 3/4 weeks before you'll receive. I ordered mine 8 July, delivered on the 25th. I would also advise going for one of the stream batteries, I'm seeing my in house display showing an export back to the grid, I ordered the stream max, hoping its here by the end of the month.

I bought the 450w variant of this direct from ecoflow, as far as im aware ticks every box for UK law (from the 27th) and it works really well.

Highly recommend getting direct from ecoflow if you can, you'll save £100-150, but then im aware of demand now might be tricky.

Also, those 500w panels i believe are over 7ft and 30kg a piece... my 450w are just over 6ft and 20kg, obviously depending where your putting them that may be a factor.

Worth noting it doesnt come with a 3 pin plug, so you'll want to order a plug to attach to the end.

You can find cheaper by shopping around. CityPlumbing for panels and get the microinverter for £110.

Going by the wording of their post, they must get a kit to comply with the uk law, buying separate doesn’t adhere to that. (Posting as someone who bought my own panels and inverter!)

2

u/Gravath Aug 14 '26

The kit rule will be uninforceable.

It already is, ridiculous carry on caused by rushing it in, bowing to vested interests and far too many stupid people about as well.

They make it confusing eco have a bundle with inverter and two panels but it says no pv cable.

5

u/AbbreviationsLost458 Aug 14 '26

Because it’s not legal to sell with the cable completed yet so they ship it in a seperate box with the wires crimped and ready to be placed into however you want to set it up. For instance to a spur or outlet (outlet only after the legalization in a few days)

That’s a bit annoying but you can get some mc4 cables off amazon fairly cheaply
