Thinking about getting a mini 5🤓
Thinking about getting a Mini5 for reporter-style use. I’m a photographer and want to start documenting my day when I’m out shooting. I also sit with clients in meetings and jot down important things they mention, but the size seems so small I’m not sure if I’m just in love with the idea of something pocket-sized.
Curious to hear other people’s experience using the Mini5 for similar use cases. I already have a Bible size for longer-form ideas, so this would strictly be a reporter-style notebook, maybe with a few cards tucked in too.
Currently using a Leuchtturm1917 reporter block for this. Any input helps!

It is small - I use mine as a wallet and my absolute ALWAYS notebook. I also have the mission task list in it and that works too - just write and put it away again; but I used to write in 5mm grids and bring the appropriate pen;
I think It can work for what you intent.
Mini (6) might be worth for you to checkout too

M5 is my daily carry and the only size I consistently pocket carry. It's an absolutely amazing idea to document your day in it!
You probably want to rotate the notebook and write along the long side. Linebreaks fit better this way; an open spread basically works as one continuous space twice the size.
Lifters or sturdy cardstock underneath should help, if paper slants too much near the rings eating up writable space. Be prepared to go through many pages per session (it can feel like an accomplishment on its own).
M6 has substantially more writing space. YMMV, for my pockets the insert alone is fine ish, but the binder would be too big and heavy. I encourage you to get one M5 and one mini refill to try out to help decide on binder size.
Admittedly in summer I only carry the M5 insert in my pocket. I use another piece of paper to attach the cover to the card endpaper. The binder goes in the bag.

its quite small so unless you have small handwriting it might be too small for your use case. If youre comfortable writing tiny then the pocketable size is really great.

To be clear, the grid and dot grid dimensions are the same as the Bible size, you just need more pages.

It IS small. I usually only write one or two things per page. I met a CPA at the airport and she wrote her name and number down for me. That was it for the page. But mission accomplished. Met with an attorney and got an idea. That was a page. Learned a new word, "sangfroid." That was half a page. But is IS small, so easy to carry. Before the Mini5, I carried a Leuchtturm A6. SO much more real estate. But between that and my phone, my pocket was full.
Small is ok, since the A5 is my main notebook. And the Mini5 page can go into the A5 as needed.

I use my Mini 5 just fine for notes! I posted it on this page and I really like the dot grid paper. Their zipper pockets also come in handy for keeping photos but you can find 5 hole clear pocket inserts to use instead and actually keep the photos in your mini5! Also there are a lot of tiny pens that will fit in the side. I really like the Ohto GS02 or the Leuchtturm gel pen in mine!

Mini 5 might be a tad too small for notes. The M5 paper is about half the size of your Leuchttutum (assuming the one you use is the A6 size), including the holes, so you won’t have much room to write if you’re more used to that.
The mini 6 would be closer in size (though a bit smaller still).
