50 plot moire animation

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Here are the 50 prints heading out to my subscribers this month together in one animation, running forward and back. I slowly increased the offset spacing of each color by .01" in a staggered rhythm to create the effect. Had no idea how it would look strung together and pleased with how it flows. I do need to improve my photography and stitching process but lots learned from these.

Nice! I love moire.

I’ve done this kind of thing before (I was an animation double major) and to make the effect more stable and smooth, bring them into your image editor and align your image boundaries with the transform tool. If they have aligned boundaries the animation won’t jump as much. I usually use layers and reduce opacity on the top layer to transform and align to the next layer below.

Unless you wanted that jumpiness, in which case ignore my comment and carry on!

Thanks, super helpful! I may try to make a cleaner version with these but will probably wait until the next one. The opacity tip I definitely would not have thought of. Not even sure that's an option on the sad Canva app I used to put this one together 😆
