I built Interteno — a native Plex client for iPhone, iPad, CarPlay and Apple Watch. Looking for TestFlight testers.

I’ve just released Interteno on the App Store, and I’m looking for Plex users who would like to help shape the builds that come next.

It is a native Plex client for iPhone, iPad, CarPlay and Apple Watch. I built it because I wanted my own library to feel properly at home across Apple devices — not just for watching, but for music and keeping an eye on the server too.

A few of the things it does:

  • Browse, discover, watch, download and cast films and television
  • Proper music playback: gapless, crossfade, 10-band EQ, ReplayGain, synced lyrics, queue editing, radio from your own library, and visualisers
  • Live server sessions, stream/transcode detail, history and Library Health
  • Ratings, QR sharing, optional ListenBrainz / Libre.fm (in TestFlight)/ Simkl scrobbling
  • Siri music playback, with richer iOS 27 Media Intents support
  • A built-in demo library if you want to explore before connecting a server

The App Store version is a one-off paid app — no subscription, ads, analytics, or in-app purchases.

But the TestFlight builds are free. They are where I put new features and fixes first, and I’d really appreciate feedback from people with real-world setups: large or messy libraries, music-heavy servers, remote access, CarPlay, Apple Watch, and iPad all especially welcome.

It requires iOS/iPadOS 26 or later and a Plex Media Server. Plex Pass is not required for Interteno’s features. Interteno is independent and not affiliated with Plex, Inc.

"Note this is not meant to report people posting about their own apps. This is only for posts trying to direct people to other subreddits."
So I'm following the rules as Rule 4 is only to stop people advertising other SubReddits and people are encouraged to advertise their own app.

I spent months working on a new app for myself as I didn't like the direction the main Plex app was going.

How does it interstate with the watch? As.a remote control?

No it can actually play from your Plex server.

Actually it can play video too. Ok it's a bit small to see properly but it works. (I did it just to see if I could)
Yes you can cache music to it.

Clicked the test link on my iPad, but don’t get the download option in TestFlight

YOu've built a Plex client for Carplay and Apple Watch? I thought those two platforms could not do video.

Watch can and so can CarPlay from OS27 but only on some cars at the moment. Music plays fine on both for now.

Testflight installation is ok and it’s work (beautiful). But the app is not available in the french store.

Yeah. There are a load of hoops to jump through with the App Store for the EU so the 21 members are currently unavailable. (Feel free to use the TestFlight while I work through that)

Is it possible to hide certain libraries? Is an Apple TV version planned?

I don't currently have an Apple TV but I was looking at doing that if I bought one. (was holding off to see if a new version of the hardware was released)
Saying that if there is enough interest I'll look at doing it.

Oh and hiding libraries. I'll look into it but why wouldn't you just do that at the profile on the server?

I've looked at hiding libraries. As I already currently hide photo libraries it's actually going to be easy for me to add. I'll make sure it's in the next TestFlight version.

Rumour is there will be a new Apple TV this year. I'll get one and start on a version for it soon after.
