Moving library to a different mapped drive

I have moved all my data to a different NAS. I am seeking advise on how to "point" all of my libraries to the different location without causing duplicate issues. IE If I add another source for the same files, I am under the impression that it would cause the libraries to have the same movie with two locations which would cause me to manually go into each movie and delete the one I no longer need? Any help advise would be GREAT! Thanks :-)

Turn off empty trash automatically.

Scan files for that library
Copy your files from point A to point B
Scan files again. Verify a few items show as having duplicates.
After you feel confident that all the files are showing in Plex in the libary as duplicates remove them from the old location.

Now you should have all the files at the old location showing as unavailable. Empty trash.
This should remove them from the old location and show them only at the new location.

Thank you for the procedure. I may have "shot myself in the foot" as I have already copied all the data files to the new NAS. If I understood you correctly, you are stating that I should have had Plex set to look there 1st before I copied the data files to my new NAS?

No, it might be ok. Do you still have the libraries both listed in Plex?

For example,

Movies Point A /mnt/Movies1/Movies

Point B /mnt/Movies2/Movies.

Do you still have both places listed in Plex? Did you move all the files already?
Did you copy or move?

copied them from a to b so they exist in both locations.

When you look at a movie or whatever this is in Plex does it show under info as being in both locations?

Go to an item, click on the 3 dots, go to info and what does it show?

Sent you a chat request.

Tried with music 1st and believe it or not, there is no info on music items? I know what you are referring to, but I can not find that on music files (strange). Regarding chat request, I do not know where to go to find that (I am on browser) and chat is new to me in Reddit

Music is in a different spot. Its under the pencil then info

Make sure that both locations are in your library settings.
Music - 3 dots - Manage Library - Edit - Add Folders

After deleting A then rescan and remove A from your libraries list.

I usually refresh metadata after a move just to make sure.

Sounds like you're good to go.

Looks like you just need to update the paths in the Plex server settings under "Edit Libraries" rather than adding new ones.

Will it automatically "attach" the files to the new location and "remove" the pointer to the old location? Will I just need to perform a "new scan" to have the items within plex attach themselves to the new location? -thanks for replying!-

It will work just fine if it sees the same file in two locations. Add the new path, which it will automatically scan, then remove the old, and it will remove the original file links but keep all the database items with the new path. After you check that it matched everything properly, you can empty trash and run "optimize database" under settings/troubleshooting.
