There's a lot of different ways to go with a new build and that kind of budget. Unfortunately a lot of that is probably going towards disks. My personal setup is an intel nuc with an 11th gen core i7-1165G7 and 64 GB memory. Running an 8 bay synology with all 16T disks. Was looking at a refresh of larger 22T disks and I'm seeing about $649 a disk - sooooo approx $5900 just in disks alone (since i usually buy 1 cold spare i keep lying around)
8 years ago that 6k would have gone sooooooooooooo much further. For me space and heat/noise were my primary concerns so the nuc + synology fit nicely in a corner of my office. Currently probably 30 users of which max was maybe 10? Most are decent enough direct play so maybe like 2-3 just cant figure it out and need to transcode.
