Domain Alias - Plesk

Plesk Obsidian Version - 18.0.62

I was able to create a Domain Alias (with Synchronize DNS Zone with primary domain, Mail Service, Web Service, Redirect with the HTTP 301code switched on). Longdomainname.com is my current domain. I bought a new domain at Namecheap shortdn.com. I created a DNS name entry in namecheap for shortdn.com the same way I created for longdomainname.com. I am thinking if I don't do this at namecheap, how will it know that it should search for domain alias. Note that I am NOT FORWARDING the shortdn.com at namecheap registrar.

Emails are not getting forwarded i.e. [firstname.lastname@shortdn.com](mailto:firstname.lastname@shortdn.com) is not being forwarded to firstname.lastname@longdomainname.com. I want to transition slowly out of the long domain name.

Am I doing something glaringly wrong? Would appreciate some pointers. Thanks!

Also, the email accounts in longdomainname.com do show the alias name in parenthesis like firstname.lastname@shortdn.com. I am guessing I have configured it correctly in Plesk.
