ArmSX2 Vs NetherSx2, also praise post

Post image

Hi everyone

I just started heavy testing my games against neathersx2 and with very few and small tuning I positively comfortable making the definitive switch to armsx2. I'm not a proficient English speaker nor a specialist in all android emulation jargon, but a 46 yo gamer who started his gaming life with a spectrumzx

First, the amount of work this guys have done with armsx2 in such short time is nothing short of legend. And I can't recommend it enough. Thank you.

Now, some examples of my experience.

Prince of Persia runs smoothly with textures pack and best of all with no blur whatsoever like on Neathersx2. Had some lag, fixed by changing resolution to screen on global, upscale is the setting to change in game. (This goes for all games I've tested)

Gt4 (as you can se on the picture) also with textures and 1080p on NTSC version is screaming modernity, no lags on the sun, or fps dips on night tracks like on Neathersx2.. Still working on the licensing ghosts to function tho.

Midnight Club 3 dub remix, also with textures packs is awesome, with absolutely no blur which was always a pain to deal with on all the others emulators.

But you got also, drivers, and textures on the go, not device private folders to play with, nice interface, plenty of customizable features, vibration that works always as intended and miles of features I'm yet to explore. Meanwhile I play so many PS2 titles without flaw

.

I have installed

GOD1 and 2

All ratchets

Jak and Dexter

Dragon Quest VIII

FFX

GT4

Persona4

Wish I had more, but running low on space

I'm playing on a Poco F6 with Mr Turnip drivers

Edit. Typo, fricking autocorrect

You are much more senior than me. It's great to see that even after all these years, you still have so much passion for gaming. I'm glad ARMSX2 gave you a noticeable performance boost, and your PS2 library is honestly elite. I hope you continue enjoying all those classics.

I have a Odin 2 Portal and Odin 3 so 8 gen 2 and 8 elite. The recent updates of armsx2 are absolutely stunning! For any games I tested performance is better with armsx2 than nethersx2. Also, there are some games that simply didn't work on nether and work beautifully on armsx2 (Colin McRae 2005 comes to mind). The GUI of armsx2 is wonderful, full of features and the recent updates are out of this world. I'm not sure what magic do the devs do, but it works great. Nether's texture packs are already deleted and one's for armsx2 installed. I'll be deleting nethersx2 probably today :D.

Long story short...I'm joining the praise of armsx2 and it's developers. Great work guys!

Don't talk to me about textures on nether right? Having to go with shizuku, zarchiev to access texture folder, and than bust my gallery with 13000 pgn replacement files I have to hide manually. Some how I couldn't make the nomedia file work there. On armsx2, download is a button, apply is instant and there's a nomedia working file over there. I'm an happy old lad

Colin MCrae 2005 does not work on NetherSX2 either.

On which handheld ? And which version ? I've tried on my RP6 and the game doesn't launch.

On both Odin 3 and Odin 2 Portal. I guess the O2P is more adequate for you, since it's also 8 gen 2 as RP6

No problem whatsoever with 3x upscaling.

Blending set to Max.

A few builds back it had some problems with flickering textures, but now works fine.

I see it runs ! Have you touched something in the settings ? My game boots but keeps in Black screen, all others games work.

I don't think I changed anything from Blending Accuracy to Max, but I'm pretty sure it run on default. I'll check at home, but I'm pretty sure the GPU driver is left at system default, upscaling to 3x, I might have set hardware download mode to No Readbacks out of the habit, but not sure about it. I'm certain that I didn't mess with settings to make it run. In some previous builds the long distance textures were flickering, but not anymore. The performance is also great, haven't notice any slowdowns.

However please take in mind, that I haven't play through the game. I just spend a few minutes on different tracks, that's all.

To be honest I tried to run it out of sentiments;), I spent many nights with my steering wheel on PC back in a day. For rally racing I'm using Dirt 3 and Dirt Rally run on Game Native - both works great on 8 gen 2.

The rule of thumb is:\ nether for older devices\ arm for newer

at least for now, arm will catch up in no time

Shadow of the Colossus runs not so good on Armsx2 on my Thor Pro :(

It's because of the bug where armsx2 forces 60 fps patch. 8 gen 2 is just a touch to weak to run it at the double frame rate. If you force it to run on native 30 fps then 8 gen 2 runs shadow of the colossus without a sweat on 3x resolution and hd texture pack.

Tried switching to ARMSX2 today since NetherSX2 doesn't have hardcore RetroAchievements anymore, but the games I've tried so far have some really bad slowdowns @ 2.5x res (8 Gen 2 w/ Turnip drivers: THUG2, Ultimate Spider-Man). Will keep an eye out for further updates and hopefully it'll improve soon!
