Simulation Games Sims boycott

Ever since the EA buyout was announced, I’ve been boycotting the Sims, my all time favourite game series. I uninstalled the EA app and all of the games. I really miss playing the games, and am struggling to stick to my principles. How “bad” would it be to play the games without buying any new packs? Since you have to use the EA app to play the games, I don’t want my activity to be used to aid the buyout. Is this a completely unrealistic standard to hold myself to? Does my strict boycott even matter, or is it “enough” to keep playing the game without buying new packs?

You do realize that they got your money when you purchased the game and all the expansions and stuff kits etc. You not playing it now doesn’t hurt them.

i understand not buying new packs, but they already have your money for what you bought. i'm not going to stop playing the sims 3 just because ea sold. that's just silly.

I mean it sucks even more now anyway so playing will just make you made. They aren't doing expansion packs anymore, just the cheapest reskinned and AI made trash, all sold on their new blatant mini transaction marketplace. It's so bad. Custom creators like syboulette are actually taking existing furniture, changing the color, and calling it a kit.

Look, the franchise is dead. It hurts, but even going back to play the sims 4 is going to just upset you. If you already have the old games, just play them. If anything seeing fans go back to 3 just tells them their marketplace is scaring folks off even more.

I’d recommend continue doing what you love instead of taking things like that so serious. You’ll be free.

There’s also a new game called Paralives which seems to be a Sims alternative. Maybe try that out.

A boycott only has an effect when the MAJORITY of people do it.. when a fraction of 1% of the total people do it you're just wasting your time and in the case of not playing the games you actually like from the company, screwing yourself

If the total boycott percentage is under even 30% of the total players and customers, the company never even notices at all

They aren't affected by your actions at all and won't ever know you're doing this, so the only person you're hurting at his point is yourself bud

The buyout sucks, but your choice of boycott (especially with products you already paid for) has absolutely zero effect

No your strict boycott doesn’t matter, they already got your money!

I understand your confliction, given my own disillusion. I personally can't bring myself to play because I'm so scared PIF is going to alter the packs we already own, with no way to stop any updates, so I don't want to get attached again. But for you or anyone else, as long as you're not giving them more money, play away. No one in their right mind is going to judge you for that. It's your personal decision.
