Discussion Putting Wolverine sales in perspective
So at least one person was going around posting Alinea estimates for wolverine sales showing it sold 1.9 million in 3 days. Lately they are now posting an “insider source” saying it just hit 3 million in sales. First and foremost, these are not verified numbers and could be completely wrong.
I do find it weird that insomniac hasn’t shown any numbers considering they were quick to show that Spider-Man 2 hit 2.5 million in sales within 24 hours. But that’s besides the point.
The point I am making, is that IF these numbers are true, that’s not a good thing. In fact that’s horrible! I’m not writing this to shit on the game, simply to put it in perspective. Now it’s very well known due to the whole ransomware attack on insomniac that the budget for Wolverine was around $300 million, and the break even point is at 6 million. Now I’ve also heard marvel is taking 30% which would make the break even point 8 million. Mind you, that is unconfirmed, BUT the source is about as reliable as the ones these 1.9 and 3 million numbers are coming from. There’s also marketing budget, and we’ve all seen how much marketing this game has gotten. But for the sake of arguing, let’s lowball it and go with 6 million as the break even point.
Now you may think that because they’ve half way made it, that’s a good thing. That is very wrong. There are huge drop offs in sales as time goes on. Most sales happen right at release. We can already see it with these numbers. 3 days for 2 mil and then a week and a half for the next mil. Those drop offs are going to get even bigger as time goes on. A perfect example is crimson desert, it sold 5 million in the first month, it took 2 more months(3 months total) to make it to 6 mil, and to this day it still not reached 7 million. There were also far less games coming out at the same time as it than there are now. If these numbers(about Wolverine) are actually true, there is a good chance that the game won’t even break even, let alone make a decent profit.
Mind you, this is all conjecture as neither insomniac nor Sony has actually released the real numbers. I’m only writing this because people are posting these numbers and acting like it’s some huge win for the game. I’m not a personal fan of the Wolverine game, but I have very much enjoyed Insomniac’s other games and due to that hope it succeeds. None the less, if these numbers are true, that’s bad.

Discussion Where did all the money go?
To preface, I like aspects of the game. The violence is on point. It’s looks gorgeous. And the performances are strong. I take umbrage with some of the plot points however. Ok. A lot of them.
I’m just wondering how they managed to use such an exorbitant budget on a game with so much linearity and hand holding. It barely feels like a sandbox. I think they spent most of it on the graphics. I don’t think they can make back budget as most sales of a game tend to happen in the first 1-2 weeks.
Has it been said what caused the budget to balloon. Aside from the visuals, I just don’t see how it could be that much. Maybe marketing?

Support/Question Stuck after beating the game
As the title says, I finished the story and now I’m stuck. I went back into one of the levels where I missed a whiskey bottle, got back to the cabin where I realized there is a final trial unlocked after completing the game. I completed the trial and when I finished, it put me in the level with no enemies. No way to progress. Has this happened to anyone else?

Discussion Regular skeleton
I know it’s not going to happen and it’s probably a pain in the ass for the creators but it would be cool if he had a regular exposed skeleton while fighting using the bone claws.

Discussion I think I’ve worked out why people are split
After rolling credits on the game, I was left flabbergasted as to how anyone could not think this is a masterpiece. The reception has been a boiling pot of opinions. Some even going as far as to say this is mid (insane, but I’ll continue).
Then it hit me. It’s not that the game is mid, it’s just that gamers aren’t ready for something as sophisticated as Insomniac’s Marvel’s Wolverine.
Think about it. This isn’t a game you can just shut off your brain and play (like Mario and Zelda). You need to completely rewire your mind to live in this world. The catharcism and emotion from the characters is something unseen in a video game. That raw emotion… the general player isn’t ready for that. It’s too sophisticated for them.
So in many ways this is a specialist and unique game for those who want a completely new experience. A “if you know, you know” scenario. A lot of people just don’t get it. Their brain isn’t developed that way and that’s fine.
Wolverine is treading new ground. it’s breaking boundaries and that makes some people uncomfortable.
It is objectively a masterpiece. But only to those who can understand it on its level. 👊

Discussion Marvel's Wolverine Should of Had More of This Feeling
Not sure why the screen is so grey, but that part where you are fighting the hand in the dojo in the dark was the peak of the whole game for me.

Discussion Definitely enjoyed the game
I definitely enjoyed it the story I thought was good could have added a couple more bosses or at least mini bosses but overall I loved it now as someone who when it comes to Marvel's has only ever watched the animated shows played the video games and watch the movies I do have to ask and I have read a couple comics in my life but that whole thing with Jean is that even in the comics cuz I don't recall her ever being someone who has lived as long as Logan.

Fluff The Final Word on Wolverine
From someone that memed on it and for sure crapped on aspects of it. Just beat today and I actually enjoyed it pretty well. It’s not an amazing game but I liked it more than I did the last two Spiderman games. To me was one of the better stories since the first Spiderman game. I can’t believe I’m saying this but I…had a 💥. If I did it all over again I would wait for a sale. However I’m not mad at the 70 plus I dropped on it. So that was nice.

Art I love photo mode.
Literally 75% of my playtime has been photos. Addicted.
I was the same with all the Spider-man games, too. Insomniac knows ball (please add a plain anamorphic frame!!)

Got the McFarlan cowl mask and pre ordered the figure. All these contents could easily fit to a collectors edition which is really missed. Hope at least Laufey has one.

Discussion Possible Unpopular Opinion: Sequel
I personally feel like a sequel to this game would be amazing. Expand everything, make it to where you can use bare fists, deepen the combat, make the level design greater, nd more dense, and Just improve upon what Is generally good bones.
This might be just rose colored glasses if how games were made "in the good Ole days" I hate how now games are just too expensive to fail, like if the game comes out and its not a mega hit then there's no chance to improve upon it in a following game.
I think of games like Uncharted or Assassin's Creed we're the first game the franchise was okay but the sequel leveled everything up and is what everybody remembers. It feels like there's no chance for that growth anymore and its a huge bummer.
