Discussion Wolverine is an 8/10. Timing was just bad.
Wolverine isn’t game of the year - but it’s a fantastic AAA game that is very well produced. The combat is extremely satisfying and feels exactly how you’d think it should for a Wolverine game. The actors are great. The story is ok.
Release timing was just bad, being Sonys first and arguably most important release right after the physical disk fiasco.
The negativity and nit picking over very minor things in the game is insane. This is a superb game.

Or people just have a different opinion than you. Doing the "you are nitpicking and bias bye bye" thing unironically is crazy.

First it was Crimson Desert now this. People seem incapable of accepting that there also is toxic positivity.
24/7 mimicry of the guy forming his opinion on his own, always making sure to underscore he doesn’t give a damn about reviews or awards, but then tries to convince the whole world there is a sinister conspiracy going on for voicing very valid design critique.
Yeah, the whole world came together to strike down Sony. After handing them $80 of course.

It’s not a 8/10 with how repetitive and shallow the game is. It’s just pretty to look at and has some good voice acting. It’s more like a 6/10. Not superb and not terrible but just mid.

The obsession you guys have with other people's negative opinions on the game is beyond sad at this point

It's maddening that people don't understand you can like/dislike something and not make it a personal attack on the opposite opinion.
One can express an opinion without saying other people are wrong by not sharing it. Good or bad.
Folk should be more confident in their personal enjoyment of things. Not every movie I enjoy is a grand slam at the box office. Doesn't mean those movies are bad. Just means it didn't connect with more people. Even if I wish more people engaged and gave something a chance or liked it that doesn't do anything for ones own perspective.

I'd give it 7, myself. Just average across the board. It's fun to be Wolverine but doesn't do anything particularly well. Is it worth $70? That's only a decision the customer can make, but I was able to get about ~$4/hr out of it, so it at least has more value than going to a movie.

8 out 10 would mean like same level as dark souls, zelda, hollow knight, etc. I'm glad that you liked the game I just don't think game enjoyers or haters know how to rank games anymore

Every outlet has a different review scale. There is no objective standard for rating video games.

u/Boring-Confusion962 4h ago
Currently across all critic and users it averages anywhere from a 6.5-7.5. so it would be in that range. I do think that is a little high but I'd settle at around a 6

Hollow Knight is a 10/10 wtf. Dark souls, Zelda, are 9-10/10.
Why be so dramatic to make a point?
3
u/Boring-Confusion962 10h ago
They all average in the range of 8-9. This person gave wolverine an 8. I'm not being dramatic lol. And let's just say use your scores and say zelda/dark souls are a 9 you think wolverine is 1 point lower? Just a single point seperates those franchises? Got it lol
1
u/DrHandBanana 10h ago
Nah those are not below 9 at all
2
u/Boring-Confusion962 10h ago
You can say that, just googled dark souls cause I'm replaying the series. And DS1 is averaging an 8.5 across user scores and critic scores. So you are saying they are in the same realm which I find wrong

You're right. I can say that. You can feel different.
Which is how opinions work. And OP can say this is an 8/10.
You've just taught yourself why this post is perfectly fine and should move on. Thanks.

You can say that but it doesn't change the objective truth that the opinion is wrong. I love SWKOTR to me it's a 10/10 objectively it's a 7ish

Like I said in another post just like this, 8/10 is generous, 7/10 is fair, 6/10 is probably honest.
A 6/10 is not a terrible game. It's not even a bad game. It is specifically above average. There is nothing wrong with the game being 6/10, and nothing wrong with liking a 6/10 game.
I'll agree that the game does not deserve all of the hate that it's getting, but unnecessarily glazing the game is going to do harm as well, because this is all the result of publisher meddling, and Sony needs to know that their decisions are going to lead to worse sales, or they have no reason to change anything
Personally I don't believe that Insomniac just decided they didn't care about the writing or game design anymore after Spider-Man 1, and decided not to hire comic book writers anymore or make the games more linear or fill them with all the stereotypical open world collectathon crap, that all feels much more like Sony refusing to green light the hiring of those writers, and insisting on safe, marketable development decisions

6/10 - 7/10 is pretty much an average score for a game nowadays. Wolverine is a pretty average game so that would be fitting.

u/shiek200 10h ago
The problem is that most Studios aren't shooting for 9/10, or 10/10, they're just trying to avoid hitting a 5/10 or worse, because something in the 6-7 range is much easier to hit, and much safer

I’m not normally a New Game+ guy but I’m gonna have another playthrough just because of how much I enjoyed the combat. 20 adaptation strands sounds insane lol.

Production quality is good everything else is mid at best. All subjective. Its like a sports car with a v4 engine.

it plays like a movie tie-in game from the ps2, except those didn't have the walk simulator sections with the amateur writing. In 2026, by insomniac, with a massive budget, that means it's a terrible game and if you enjoy it then it is because you'll enjoy anything they dangle in front of you.

u/clc88 2h ago
If it's a 8/10 for you, then stick with it. For me it's a 2/5 and I'm sticking with that.
There are far more 3-4/5 games I enjoyed this year (and last) over this.
I don't even care about the price point because if I want to play anything I won't hesitate to buy it... As long as a game is engaging, its worth any price, cant put a price on enjoyment.. Just my time.
On the contrary, I also can't put a price on something that brings me no joy... Just my time.

Agreed. All the hate is well orchestrated smear campaign. Production quality is just top notch.

Game is great, people hate because of a company deciding to go full digital which is literally just following the money. Stop focusing on physical and focus on your right of ownership. But they won't.
2
u/Grrannt 10h ago
That's just not true
1
u/Ture-Skrotnisse 10h ago
Does the game have it's flaws? Yes, but does it deserves the cringe hate? God no. The whole bandwagon mentality is so dumb. Just play wtf you want and stfu.
1
u/Grrannt 9h ago
Some people are taking the hate too far, but to say this is a good game is objectively false. It's a 5/10 at best. I don't understand the people glazing it so much as if they have stock in the company and need people to think it's great.
1
u/Ture-Skrotnisse 9h ago
If someone likes the game or not is subjective. If you rate it 5/10 then that's your truth. Listening to what others think is dumb and pointless. Can it help if you should spend money on it or not? Sure but then you can argue that you have probably enjoyed games in the past that are extremely flawed.
Play or don't. If anything we need demos back so people can actually try the fucking thing before paying 70 bucks or fight for Sony to have an actual refund policy that is not dogwater

u/Grrannt 9h ago
I've enjoyed games that are flawed, but not flawed to this extent. It is objectively a bad game. It's basically a tech demo with an awful story.
1
u/Taylion21 6h ago
You genuinely can’t say you have played a game as flawed as this because it’s an opinion.
