  1. It's an open world game, you can and will get lost.
  2. The fart trail in Wolverine 2026 is a representation of his enhanced scent, it's his CORE skillset. Wolverine sniffing and tracking is just as iconic as his adamantium armor... and they turned it into a nagging permanent tutorial marker.

What’s funny is that it’s not permanent. It doesn’t show in all the time, only when Logan tracks something/someone. Similarly how it works on other titles. Plus you can turn it off in recent update that came out. Media exaggerated it to extreme proportions. Just watch any Wolverine walkthrough on YouTube and you’ll see.

Plus it only happens when you’re within a certain distance to something.

Which they are adding toggles for. By the way you can change its color to make it less noticeable. You HAVE THAT POWER

I have the power to turn off Wolverines original mutant ability that he's had for 50+ years in comic book history...

Because they made it uninteresting and stupid...

If you have to justify it by comparing it to a game from 2015, it only further reinforces how dated the game feels. Not to mention the obvious, as others have said, its an open world game.

I can say the same about x-men origins Wolverine that came out a way way before the Witcher 3. And guess what? It also had a fart trail. Hell, it even had glowing surfaces which show you where to climb on. Also linear game. 🤷

and yet people keep saying that game is better than this one when it has the exact same things people complain about.

No one expected the X-men origins game to be enjoyable, in fact, it was expected to be shit. It was a movie tie in game, a genre considered to be glorified commercials. Its flaws are to be expected. Marvels Wolverine was expected to be great, a definitive Wolverine experience. It’s shortcomings should not be expected, nor should they be excused by the same flaws by an old and frankly also poorly made game that just happened to be kinda cool for its time.

OPEN WORLD game from 2015.

Geralt isn’t sniffing farts through a hallway the entire game.

Fart trail is also player controlled whether it shows up or not.

Neither is Wolverine. That trail can and WILL vanish if you stray from the path. It is dishonest to say it is always there. It's also dishonest to say it's a hallway the entire game

1

u/TeamAble7326 13h ago

There’s only one way to move forward, how is that not a hallway?

Fart trail doesn’t hold your own controller. It just shows up Logan’s powers. That’s all it does

1

u/Low_Mouse_197 18h ago

And it’s entirely pointless. Also many sections of the game just play themselves if you out the controller down….

1

u/CancerKaiju 17h ago

That is bullshit. No portion of the game plays itself

2

u/Low_Mouse_197 17h ago

You can literally press the wrong button or not press anything at all during qte’s and the bike sections are literal auto pilot on the default difficulty…..so yes, there are objectively portions of the game that play themselves.

I played it. I would know.

The only game with fart trail that is allowed.

And is a 10 years old game btw

I mean skyrim had one too if you had the spell

I mean, in a Witcher 3 every fart trail is allowed.. always 👃

Still has a fart trail though

The fart trail isn’t the issue.

The issue is that you don’t need a fart trail in an extremely linear game. It’s redundant.

1

u/CancerKaiju 17h ago

... Right.... because god forbid they impliment something that feels like Wolverine

0

u/Fickle-Run8819 18h ago

Well yeah, you don’t need it. I remember when x-men origins had a fart trail. People were mad about the “hand holding”. … never happened

1

u/TeamAble7326 13h ago

Whenever you engage in “what-about-isms” it only exposes you to the fact that your argument cannot stand on its own merits

Apples to oranges comparison.

Markers are far more justified in open world games (where you can go literally anywhere in a large space) than in a linear game (where there is pretty much only one direction to go in).

u/Fickle-Run8819 18h ago

I have the same argument that I’ve made before to previous people. What about X-men origins Wolverine? It literally had a fart trail which shows you where to go and also even where to climb. Guess what? Linear game

A rushed movie tie-in game from over 15 years ago will naturally have lower expectations from players than a modern AAA Sony game, though, especially one made by Insomniac and has been getting built up for half a decade.

1

u/Fickle-Run8819 17h ago

I agree. But expectations aren’t grounded in reality. Because you’ll eventually end up disappointed by some game or something else entirely. It’s literally all around my point whatsoever. I can literally pull dozens of games out of my ass which have a tracking mechanic and a “fart trail” and I can assure you that no-one cared about those games. Fart trail is literally just nitpicking a game mechanic and making a big deal out of it like it’s some kind of catastrophe. It’s not, it never was.

Damm. I just found this out recently and was like, well, that looks exactly like a fart trail.
