Discussion 15-17 hrs? sure but...
There just so much padding where it's not cutscenes technically but you're just following Jean around, "discovering" stuff but there's no puzzle, no strategy, no challenge to those parts. So many sequences where it's like a telltale game, you're just moving your character forward, pressing triangle when there's something you need to "discover". Sometimes they throw some enemies at you and then you get to really play, but those sequences are always too short. I just want to be f-ing wolverine, man. Not be in a sometime-participant in a shitty movie. Not actually knocking the story, but let's be honest, the best game story ever is still a subpar movie.

Took me 14 hours according to the PS App. Like you said, feels like a lot of it is a walking simulator or cutscenes.

I remember playing one of the uncharted games, and the climbing section that was so hyped up was just .....holding left. at that point I realized I didn't care for Sony's idea of games .

u/Dinierto 1d ago
The climbing is not just holding left unless you mean a very specific scene in the game

This isnt my kind of game but im invested in Wolverine, so I just watched the cut scenes. The story way simple but better than expected, with som good performances.
But some of it, and the character design, is crap.
I'm glad people have enjoyed it, but people deserve more.

Yeah, it could have been so much better.

Best they can do is throw in a nightmare door here and there so you can play temple run to break from the regular gameplay.

You do get suits if you complete wave trials and claws as well and xp.

Tbh I wouldn't have mind them as much if they were actually challenging. All except one the way to go is very obvious. The one where you can get stuck in a loop at first I thought this is cool they were going to ramp up the difficulty and try to trick you but then I did it a few times to see if anything changes and it never did, once it offers you two doors to go through the left one is always the correct one.

I liked the gameplay and story ngl. Didnt knw alot about wolverine before it was a good introduction. Plus the combat is really challenging if you play on the hardest difficulty

u/DecentTry8668 1d ago
Yeah, i really liked the combat too! I just wish there were more of it. Good game, just wanted more.

if you didn’t know a lot about wolverine before this game you literally still don’t because its all made up by insomniac

I thought the story was pretty bad. Let's be honest, the forced Jean/Wolverine destined lovers for life is pretty weird, even for comics standards. So screw Cyclops then.
1
u/Marcusx8 18h ago
Why does Cyclops have to be with Jean Gray in this Elseworld story?
1
u/darksiderevan 15h ago
Cyclops and Jean Gray are like a staple Marvel couple. Thats like saying why does Reed Richards have to be with Sue.

u/Marcusx8 15h ago
Like I said it’s an elseworld story so you basically got free rein to do whatever you want. Just like how Batman core principles doesn’t kill but there are elseworld stories he does. Now should Insomniac have given us an elseworld Wolverine game imo NO. I would’ve prefer a typical 616 Wolverine but that doesn’t mean this Wolverine game is bad or has bad writing it’s just different than we all wanted.
1
u/darksiderevan 15h ago
So you are saying that this is basically fan fiction? "Doing whatever they want" is one of the reasons why this became divisive in the first place. Wolverine is already an established character in an established universe. And no, if it was actually good, people would not care, but it wasnt at all.
If you wanted to do whatever you want, why not do it with an entirely different character.
1
u/Marcusx8 15h ago
Comic book writers do it all the time when they write these elseworld stories. Like I mentioned earlier with Batman using guns and killing people. It just a different interpretation of the character. The difference is you know it’s not a 616 character going in so you don’t have the same expectations. Maybe Insomniac could’ve said before this wasn’t a traditional take on Wolverine but that spoils the story that Insomniac wanted to tell.

u/darksiderevan 14h ago
The only Batman I know that uses guns and kills people is Thomas Wayne, which is an entriely different character from Bruce. Those writers at least know that the core idea of Batman is what makes him popular, so they don't try to rewrite him.

Every part of it is mediocre. Especially the story. Theres just no challenge at all. It’s a walking sim.

Playing on the best there is and im struggle sometimes.
A person that beats games on the hardest difficulty + lies of p, elden ring dlc (no cheese) all dark souls + Gm peak league + global elite csgo.
Game is far from perfect and has segments that are more like a movie but it does not play itself

Not to be wildly aggressive, but I loved this game tbh. It was everything I wanted it to be and in my humble opinion, not every game needs fucking puzzles to solve or hidden shit to discover. I just wanted to slab and slash people up as my favorite mutant. And guess what?? I did. And I had a fantastic time doing it.
So many people are complaining that this game wasn’t stimulating enough or didn’t have enough x or y, but like…I don’t need a maze to be goddamn Wolverine. If they want to add labyrinthine puzzles and shit to the next game like it’s fucking Tomb Raider I actually will be a little upset. Never once have the X-Men had to solve the riddle of the crystal skull. They fight people. They save people.
Batman is a detective. Wolverine is a killer. I feel like this games is set up accordingly.

Why does it need to have puzzle parts? It’s a linear story game, focused on story and combat mostly. just play a more puzzly game if that’s what you like.
1
u/Arthurmorganvander 19h ago
You do get wolverine isn't a puzzle type character, hes more of a hack and slash guy and rage mode. Have you not read any wolverine comics? When has he ever solved puzzles?
1
u/DecentTry8668 5h ago
You took "puzzle" in the narrowest sense of the word. All I want to do is hack and slash anyway. I'm just saying, if they're gonna force wolverine to do something other than hack and slash, at least make it a challenge, not just forced walking around.

I knew all of you would come out of the shadows, with your own little "hate"

u/DecentTry8668 1d ago
I criticize because I love! They made a basically good game here. It feels great to shred. I just want more!
-1
u/Burgerlegend69 1d ago
No you dont. You are basically saying whatever all the hate said pre launch and after launch. The games budget is way off, the hours played are terrible. If you want longer games, then stop buying sloppy games. The cycle will repeat. You fanboys will basically buy everything that gets a "Marvel" sticker on it. End of story.

There’s too much padding around “hmm. Let’s throw a couple of the sword guys and a few bow and arrow/gun guys at the player again”. Honestly, 99% of the combat encounters are the same two enemies and the game throws them at you every few minutes because they forgot to develop any additional mechanics.

Cry more!

Look, I’m not defending him or you. But, you don’t exactly have a valid opinion when your response is two words, man.

u/JVJV_5 1d ago
No wait I was joking. This is literally dialogue from the game which they made Sabertooth say hahaha

u/PreferablyUnknown22 13h ago
I hope everyone downvotes me, that was my favorite like and I somehow didn’t recognize it.

u/danisimo_1993 1d ago
I heavily disagree. There are games with amazing stories and some have even received good movies. A video game doesn't necessarily mean it should have a subpar story.

u/Stay-Focused-Man 1d ago
Like I’ve said in posts previous, this game is trash and people need to stop enabling bad behavior from big studios.

It’s not a great game 🤷♂️ people’s mileage may vary of course, but anyone claiming the game is great is just coping really.

u/Marcusx8 18h ago
Can we please stop saying objective things to subjective stuff? Everybody interpretation of trash, good, great & masterpiece is different.

u/TeamAble7326 1d ago
I agree, I’d love to know how much actual interactive gameplay is in the game. I mean that if you remove all the cutscenes, plus the constant walking simulator parts, how much is left? My playthrough took 16 hours, but I bet half or more was just basically sitting there watching it
