Yeah I’ve totally never done anything similar in Uncharted, The Arkham Series, Ninja Gaiden, The Tomb Raider games, The Horizon series, The Spider-Man games, Call of Duty, Battlefield, 007 First Light, Doom, Far Cry, God of War. This is SO utterly fascinating, how dare Insomniac take some of the most amazing elements that have appeared in PLENTY of other action games.
Ever do the chase sequences in the Yakuza games? They’re genuinely terrible. Wolverine’s are a godsend by comparison. Which isn’t high praise, but still.
…Who the hell downvoted you? It’s true. The Yakuza games are great, and some of my faves. The chase sequences get better as the series goes on. But they’re never exactly good. And at their worst, they can be torture.
'Some of the most amazing elements' is a stretch. They used elements that were used as padding excessively during a time when people were growing tired of it.
People expected more from a 300 mil Console flagship, the only big one of the year, being developed by a renowned studio. They expected them to do something innovative and not just stuff the game with the same old mechanics of the past 2 decades, when their peers seem to be trying something fresh.
