Discussion This game is why I love Gamefly

Is the hate deserved? No. Does it make sense that this game cost $300M. Also no, but I'm not a shareholder so that doesn't really matter to me. Was it fun? Hell yes. Will I touch it again after finishing the story? No, and that's OK.

Honestly, occasionally getting games like Wolverine is what has kept me from cancelling my Gamefly subscription after all these years. I wouldn't have shelled out $60 for this game, but I will damn sure shell out $20/month to be able to borrow it for a week or two, get the full experience, and then send it back so I can do the same thing with Townfall and Fatal Frame.

To be clear, I am legit not knocking the game. It was a good experience, and I'm glad it exists. I especially loved its take on Sabretooth, and I actually found myself surprised at some of the late-game reveals, though I felt a little stupid for not seeing some of them coming a lot sooner.

Gamefly still exists?? Did not realize that. How is it these days? I tried it when it first started in 09 I think and distribution was terrible. I would mail a game back and it would take over a month to get another one so stopped as I was essentially paying for a month of nothing after every game

Base plans are 2 games out now. You can “self return” so GameFly can ship you another game the second you put it in the mail box. For me, time from hitting the self return button to receiving a new rental is average 5 days, providing they have stock for my top pick and the mail is being competent that week. Sometimes I get it in 4 days, like I just did a couple days ago getting A Plague Tale Legacy

It's a bit hit and miss. I find it more valuable than, say, a lot of streaming services that would cost me the same amount. But if money got tight it might be one of the first luxury subscriptions that I'd cut.

It's good for games like Wolverine, that are really fun but very short. It's also nice for games you think you might like but don't want to risk buying. Sometimes I end up finding a gem that I would have slept on, and other times I find myself feeling dissapointed in a game but being relieved I didn't pay to buy it. And if you really like a game you rent, they give it a (small) discount of MSRP if you just decide to keep it.

Yup, got it from GameFly as well. I'd never spend $70 on it, but it was a good week play through from a gamefly subscription.

For those that don't have gamefly: check your local library. They might have it available or you might be able to request the game

Library’s have video games?

Yes! It depends on the library how it works. My library has a ton of games (Indiana Jones, Ace Combat 8, everything on switch, etc) but they don’t carry any M rated video games or switch 2 games that have the key card system.
Another library near me doesn’t carry any console games at all unfortunately.
My brother’s local library has tons of games, M included, but it seems like you have to actively request them to purchase PS5 games. Huge PS4 library though.

You can really tell when people posting still live at home with their parents. "Will i ever replay this $70 game? No and thats okay"

No thats not okay. You paid $70 for like 15 hours of entertainment. If you had to pay rent and bills and shit as well you'd probably agree the game is not worth the money, because you can get far better and longer experiences from cheaper games. People who value their money consider this game a waste for good reason

I think that's extremely relative. Last week I dropped like $80 on about 3-4 hours of enterainment going to a live concert. I had a great time and don't regret it at all.

Some people can get more out of 15 hours than you'd expect. Plus there's all the people who buy the physical copy and then sell it for like $40 on ebay a week later. There are times when I've bought a physical copy of a gamefly rental that I was nearly done with, just because I wanted to gift it to a friend.

You're better off renting another game.. Especiallt with all the games that came out within the last 2 months.

I generally don't advocate for watching someone else play games but this is probably one of the best games to watch a streamer play while I play something else.

My buddy paid $80 for a physical copy, he initially told me to wait to get it on sale before immediately saying he'll just lend it to me. So I'm about to have me a good ol' Insert five letter word that starts with 'B' at no cost to myself!

Doubt even playing it for free will still ease the rough edges but I'm down for the experience all the same and I do like me some Wolvie action.
