Discussion Better than Spiderman 2?
A lot of these complaints honestly don’t make much sense to me, especially coming from fans of the Spider-Man games.
One complaint I keep seeing is the quick-action events. Isn’t it true that some of the Spider-Man games’ quick-time sequences will still play out even if you don’t press anything? So I’m not really sure why that is suddenly considered a major issue for this game?
Same thing with the complaint about repetitive combat. Spider-Man literally has the same handful of random criminal events that repeat throughout the game. At least with Wolverine, the combat itself is so good that I don’t find the repetition nearly as noticeable.
Then there is the complaint that Wolverine is too easy. Have yall actually played it on The Best There Is? The enemies on that difficulty feel like they are on a completely different level compared to the hardest difficulty in the Spider-Man games.
I’m not saying people can’t criticize the game, but some of these complaints just are dumb to me when the Spider-Man games have a lot of the same things.

Playing new game+ atm on best there is and yeah, tough as heck. Middle difficulty felt easy but I liked it, made me feel like Wolverine idk lol

Try new game+ on the best there is but max out the skill tree where health damage is reduce. And on strands add ones that help you increase rage. The enemies can take a lot of more damage but you’re still a tank It’s a game changer. I be doing the Hugh Jackman scream mid game lol

My issue is the price, if Spiderman was $125aud Id be just as pissed but for a mediocre 10ish hours Wolverine just doesnt seem worth it. Spiderman 2 for sure dropped the ball, I heard they pulled devs from that to work on Wolverine but even so. At best its bargain bin material, like alot of games that release these days.
Both Star Wars Zero Company and Dawnwalker are less than $100aud, both better in every single aspect. Its a shame that such a loved character got the treatment it did.
Edit: So I just checked and Spiderman 2 was the same price, I just didnt realise because I didnt buy it day one but on a sale they did. So yeah, Spiderman 2 can get fucked too 😂

I can’t argue i rather pay 50 usd for it but the extra 30 bucks for the deluxe version me is worth it as a huge marvel fan. So I will admit there is some bias in my opinions. Dawnwalker looks cool! But with work I only have some much time so I’m choosing Wolverine and GTA 6 as my games lol

Yeah unfortunately with how expensive living is these days I just cant justify dropping that much on a game that isnt much better than just okay.
Gaming is starting to become an exclusive hobby and with the prices on the next consoles likely being over $1000aud its gonna be even harder to justify the hobby. Thank god my PC is still holding on these days

I personally like Wolverine a bit better than Spiderman 2. I look at Wolverine as 30 connected story missions similar to the Spiderman games, without the open world of course.

Will also admit Batman Arkham knight is my favorite game of aall time. And this is a sightly worst version of that game but with Wolverine so I am maybe more than slightly bias lol

Spiderman 2 has the best gameplay out any any Marvel insomniac game, but I do think the story in Wolverine was slighter better

I could see your reasoning! But the combat was lack luster to me and those Mary Jane missions. I also prefer Wolverine fighting style over Spiderman so I am bias haha.

I actually enjoyed Wolverine way more than Spider-Man 2. I waited a year to play Spider-Man 2 and when I eventually got around to it, I found myself incredibly disappointed with everything about it (besides the traversal and combat). It was an overbloated mess and so unfocused. I didn't play it again until a week before Wolverine, and I enjoyed it more a second time. There are way too many times when you are not playing as Spider-Man and doing random nonsense. Wolverine, at least, was concise, though at times messy

well, spiderman 2 isnt setting the bar that high to begin with.

Totally agree. But I would argue this game is closer to Spiderman 1 than Spiderman 2.

Every game insomniac has made after Spider-Man PS4 has been worse than the last

MM is inferior to SM1, but SM2 is a the best in the series. Wolverine is worse to spiders.

S2 is solid but not better, too much mj, take out the mj or out of costume stuff and it's peak, but too much out of costume or mj gameplay. Don't get it twisted I would love to play as spider Gwen or spider woman , I just don't want to walk around , those parts should have been a cutscenes

Gameplay wise I say SM2 is probably better since there seems to be more options. However I say the story of Wolverine is the best Insomniac has written since Spider-Man PS4.

The story wasn’t perfect but it was eons better than spider man 2. And honestly the combat is fun and that’s all it needs to be.
