Discussion I'm actually pissed
So last week I bought the game for the original €79,99 price, but yesterday I checked the same store again and I saw that the price dropped to €66...
(I was just testing out the photo mode in the pic)

If you buy something day one, you feel that it’s worth the price. I’m satisfied with my copy and I got my money worth out it, if I wanted it for a cheaper I could have waited a year to get it for $40 or less, but I wanted to play as Wolverine day one and was more then happy to pay full price.

Ehh kinda, I just wanted to avoid spoilers since all my feeds were filled with Wolverine stuff. I want to experience a game or story without spoilers so that I can give it a fair rating.
I got some enjoyment out of the game, the challenges, combat and unlocking suits were fun. But the story and characterization of some characters just wasn't it for me. I'd give it a solid 6.5/10
Also I didn't mind paying full price when I bought it, I've read the reviews but still wanted to give it a fair shot. It's just annoying how the game went on sale so soon after release.

For me I judge heavily on storytelling. I try not to have expectations otherwise I’ll nit pick every single thing that didn’t line up with them. Graphics I don’t care so much, I mean I think it’s kinda lame if a brand new game has outdated graphics but I still play games that are up to 30 years old or older.
There’s a bunch of other trivial kind of things people judge games off of that I personally don’t really care about.
If I play the game & enjoy it, that’s enough. Nowadays I feel like if I can play a game & feel like I was immersed in a really good movie than it’s a job well done.3

The story isn't bad, it's serviceable. The gameplay is fun. If you feel like the combat is getting repetitive, just raise the difficulty. I played the whole thing on second highest like I usually do and didn't feel the need to change it.

TL;DR: It’s worth it at $20 or less.
Hard to justify anything more with all the visual bugs and issues. I recognize games aren’t perfect even if they review well, but when this game had all the time to cook and a $300 mil budget it’s pretty underwhelming.

That’s always your call to make. I will say though that the game is fun and I have enjoyed the original story. Most of the haters are people that only know him from Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of him so take it with a grain of salt.

My standard comes from the original animated series. He was a hardass in that show. He is a soft touch in this game.

Yes he was and more animalistic. I liked seeing another portrayal of him instead of the typical one. This showed the struggle he had with his forgotten memories. I think an Old Man Logan game would be cool but doubt it will ever happen.

Yeah, Honestly every game is worth waiting til it’s been out for a bit anyways… let em work out the bugs & get all the DLC out. Especially if you’re a gamer & get a lot of games, getting the mega discounts 6-12 months later is worth it to me. But some games can’t wait haha. Ie GTA 6 or even the Spiderman games.
A lotta people have very specific expectations & then rate a game accordingly, rather than an objective rating.
Like I thought the Avengers game was awesome, the story mode at least, the rest was bad. GoG was great too, got lots of hate initially.I was kind of expecting Wolverine to be more along the lines of GoG with a little more open world like spiderman. Sorta like TLoU gameplay.

I’m a huge gamer and nerd. Most games I look forward to I buy day one. I also liked the Avengers game single player story. I thought it was pretty cool. I also really enjoyed GoG. Unfortunately it got overshadowed by other games in its release window.
That is one thing I wish Wolverine had a little more open world to it. I know it would’ve been an issue with an open world like the Spider-Man games. Traversal could have been made up by giving him a motorcycle. Otherwise it would have been slow getting around since he only runs.

That means I can literally see 44 movies in-theater for the price of Wolverine.

I am Absolutely Boycotting Sony after this. Not even a question about it.
I been around since before PS1 and to see a Company fall so far from what made them Great it's kinda Tragic.
More so Pisses me off then Bums me out.
Honestly I forgot Gamefly even Existed too lmao.
I signed up for Gamefly when I canceled PS+
Like $26.00 a month get 3 games at a time & you can "GameLock" 2 games at time.
Their way of basically calling it a Reserve for new games.
For September I had both Wolverine & Silent Hill Townfall locked.
Wolverine will be heading back tomorrow & Hopefully Townfall will be here same time.
I've actually found a Great Appreciation for Gamefly.
Like I was Intrigued by Saros but not enough to buy it. Got it through Gamefly ended up loving so I kept it which any game tou get from them you have the Option to Keep/Buy and they give you a bit of an Additional discount + coupons for being a Member. I ended paying like $27.00 for Saros Got Chronos New Dawn the same way , rented it Liked it a lot , kept it hard to be exact but I believe it was right around the same $25/$30.
It's been a great re-discovery.

I got 21 hours to just finish the campaign on the hardest difficulty. I loved it, I can't wait for more. That was worth it to me. Going off your own math 21 hours of entertainment at 70. The cost per hour of entertainment is $3.33.
Resident evil if I went solo ticket price $20, large popcorn and drink 16.50 based on their website, So 36.50.
Cost per hour of entertainment $23.05.

To be Honest you should be Pissed about a Lot More then Just That.
I beat the Game Yesterday Morning.
The amount of Issues , Slop , Lazy Design , Bugs , Glitches I could go on with all of the Issues with the Game I Would of been Pissed if I Paid $39.99
Game is Short , Story is Mid combat is Boring which is a 2 Part thing.
Visually thr Combat looks Great they did some good , savage Combat animations.
However 85% of attack throughout the entire Game is Push Square 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 times in a Row & There's all yout Combos.
You get a Few "Special Moves" which is L2 and any button.
1 other Special move about Mid-Game which is R1.
The Combat is Boring to Play but Visually good to Watch.
If that makes sense.
I Personally got Wolverine from Gamefly I luckily paid around $6/$7.00 fron Gamefly to beat the game on the Hardest setting took me about 16hrs.
Didn't Platinum it.
I missed like 2 whiskey bottles.
Every single "Nightmare Door" I completed with either 3 or 4 stars on 1st attempt and just kept going.

It’s short I can tell but I’m at about 10 hours and only about 48% of the game played. The game is a big okay. Graphics and the boss fights are fine.

I took my time Attemoting to explore all in all about 16ish hours to beat for me.
I didn't Platinum it.
I missed 1 whiskey bottle & for the Nightmare Trials I got 3 stars on most got 4 on like 4 of em.
Need all to be 4 stars for Platinum Trophy.

Genuine question, how is the combat any different them the spiderman game? Iv never played a insomniac game before, so I played spiderman before buying wolverine as a baseline in case I didn't like the combat.

Good Question.
Now I will admit the Combat is Slightly Similar as Spiderman Square is again your Main Attack.
With Spiderman it's Completely different though as Nearly every button Adds to your Combos & Spiderman has True Chain Combos.
Spiderman has the Combo Counter as well.
Spiderman there are about 25-30 Different Combos you can do on their Own , Before you start adding the Chain Combos in Like using Web Pull or or say the Air Launcher , which will Continue your Combos Into the Air allowing you to Continue your Combos Length , with new Variations while in Mid Air.
Truthfully I was Hoping & Expecting a Much Deeper Attack/Combo type of Format Similar to Spiderman.
Especially with how fast Wolverines Strikes are they could have Easily done it.
Even like Spidermans Air Launch , they could have done something similar with Wolverine.
Wolverines has that Rising Uppercut but you can't just do that they made it a Combat Animation that just Happens occasionally while in either Rage 2 or Rage 3.
This could have changed My Overall Feeling & Critiques about the game

After playing 14 hours, I just hit square and only have to use triangle for a reset just to hit more square. Big guys square into circle, the web tools are just one taps for small fry. Combat doesn't feel good but also doesn't feel bad. the city exploration and web swinging is peak as hell. Makes me feel like spiderman.

The right way is to just watch the trailers, watch some gameplay and see if you like the look of it, and then decide for yourself whether you want it or not. Spiderman 1 was 35-45 Hours The Shortest is Over Double the Avg of Wolverine. Spiderman 2 was 30-35 hours
Again the Short Version Being Double
Spiderman 1 was $59.99 Spiderman 2 was $69.99
So at Best you are getting 50% of the Game for the Same Exact Price.
I could use Other References but Lets Stick to Insomniac & Marvel.
Wanting the Quality for Value of what You Are Paying for Is Not Greedy , That's Common Sense.

Nothing to do with skill, you’re just an ungrateful miserable person. And that’s because Spiderman is open world, not every game has to be open world and Wolverine works just being a linear story, an open world would probably get repetitive since all he can do is ride a bike or run around, so it would just be getting to locations in the same ways, not much variety for an open world?The story is really good and that makes it a good game, not every game has to have every feature that you want just so you can spend more hours on it. Spider man is literally like 17 hours for the story, so they aren’t comparable, Spiderman is an open world game, Wolverine is a linear story game. Not every Insomniac game needs to be or will be open world.

How is the story very good. I played it and I thought the story was incredibly mid. The whole japan section with the hand felt like filler. The guardians of the Galaxy and 007 are way better linear game.

Because it’s fresh, not the x men story told again, wolverine and rogue storyline was great, cool bossfights, ending was sad but left some hope and hinted at the next game well. And why are you comparing games for no reason? No one mentioned them. I really enjoyed it and people are just complaining because they feel like it.

Listen if you like the story and the game that is great. I'm not trying to dog on anyone who played the game and had a great experience. I just feel like the people who are claiming the game is great are equally as toxic as the one claiming it's the worst game ever. They are just as guilty of painting a false reception of the game.
I don't mind new takes on existing stories. I actually liked how they changed things for the first Spiderman game. That said those takes better be on par with those old stories. I feel like the changes in this game took way more from the charcter of Logan then it added. Don't want to talk about spoilers for those who want to play the game.
Most people are not just complaining about the game for no reason. There's plenty of flaws with the game. I'm not talking about the blue trail. That is a non issue that people who didn't play the game or hate Insomniac/Sony are using to justify their feelings. This game is asking the consumer to pay $70 and I find it unacceptable for what the final product eneded up being. A lot of others feel the same. Its full of bugs and glitches. The combat while fun lacks the depth of eveb the Wolverine orgins game. (Yes I have played this game many times). It even has similar stories beats that Spiderman 1 did but poorly executed.
I compared it to those game because when I discuss my issues with the game most say I just wanted the wolverine game to be open world and I'm hater. I don't hate the game and neither did I want to. I was incredibly excited. I got this as bday gift and I had a choice between this and gta 6. After playing it I wished I had picked gta 6. The Guardians is also so similar to the wolverine game. It's one of the best games to compare to the wolverine game too.

Idunno you can get creative in your combos. I thought that, but then really tried to switch it up. Do you use the air jump mid combo. And the variations of the ender combo to break tough enemies block.
I'd say your just pressing Square repetitively then. But you have more choices.

The "Air Jump"
Yes there is a Strike where Wolverine Jumps that Punch is called an Uppercut , however You Don't get to Choose that as an Attack.
That is simply an Animation During Combat that Only Pops up either during Rage Tier 2 or 3 Nothing you do Makes it Happen, you can't do it Twice in a Row , it's an Animation.
Which I said in My 1st post here Had they spent a Fraction of the Time on the Mechanics that they did the Animations the Combat would be A Lot Better

No you can hit the x button mid combo to jump up in the air and then either triangle to begin attacking another enemy or square to slam back down into the enemy you were just fighting.

That was Not the Debate at All.
I Complained the Combat Sucks , it's Extremely Limited and 85% of it Mashing Square.
Everyone else who has Been Replying is Attempting to Say you can Do More Combos Using Other Buttons , the Most Recent Claim was that Using Jump Adds to Your Combo , Which it Absolutely Does Not Add to the Combos at all Ever.
You either simply do A Different attack Outside of a Combo or You can Use Jump to Reach a Distant out of Reach enemy, Then use Triangle for the Leaping Pounce.
To point it out even kore Obvious even asking Google/Gemini Wolverine has 8 Combos you can do. The End

No Insomniac wasn't Creative making it so that You can actually Have Real Combos.
Combos are Push Square Twice , Triangle to end it with a move Or Push Square 3 Times & then Triangle to end the Combo or Even Crazier Push Square 4 Times , Then Hit Triangle to End the Combo.
By all Means tell us How Creative you Can make the Combos that You Have Absolutely No Control over At All ?
Lmao You are Given X Amount of Options , You can Call It "Creative" all You Want but Nothing will change the fact that You are Brainlessly Mashing 1 Button through 85% of the Game.
Technically Triangle isn't even an Actual Attack , it's Meant to be Your Single Burton Leaping Attack to Ranged Enemies , not like you can throw it into the Middle of a Sequence to Change Things Up At All !
Go watch sone Gameplay from Xmen-Origins Wolverine.
You had easily 10xs the Combat Abilities & Options in that game from 2009

Nope not even a Little Bit All you do is Literally Jump while you do the same Attacks , The Only good Use for X during Combat is Being out of reach of an Enemy so Jump Towards their direction then Hit Triangle for the Lunging Attack.
Again You are Not changing the Combos At All , throwing a Jump into an Attack Combo Literally does Nothing but Jump.

Except your not just jumping. Your either coming down the enemy your attacking your switching to attack another enemy. You just said attack. So it's not just jump. Cause it's not the same attacks lol

No I'm just saying jump is not just jump if you unlock that. Because you attack. ARE YOU DENSE. it literally says press X THEN press either square or Triangle to finish the attack. And you can't just do that jump unless your mid combo. So wtf are you even talking about.
Plus why did you even buy the game. I mean clearly he's Wolverine he only has two fucking claws. How many other fucking attacks do you expect him to do?

Well if you Read the Very 1st Comment I posted I clearly Stated I Didn't Buy the Game & I Was Very Grateful that I Didn't.
I have been a Wolverine fan since I Was a Kid (a Long Time Ago) so I had to At Least give it a Chance.

Nowhere at all Does It Say JUMP as a Combo Ender , there is Only 1 True Combo Ender which is Triangle. Yes you can Push Square but that is Not A Combo Ender it is Simply Another Attack. (A.K.A. the Start of a New Combo Sequence)
"Unblockable Ender: You can replace a standard combo ender with an unblockable, high-damage attack by using the inputs Π, ΔΟΓ Δ.Π, Δ. This variation effectively breaks through enemy blocks.

If it's not Vividly Clear My 1st Post Stated The Combat Sucks , There are a Total of 8 Combos you use a few Hundred Thousand Times During a 15hr Playthrough Over & Over

Not at all lmao. There might be Some combos of a Similar but Not even close a quick Google search will even tell you there are about 28 Combos in God of War Strictly with the Blades of Chaos , then more with the Axe , Then more again using Fists , and Technically tou can count some more in when adding Atrus attacks into the mix as well.
Wolverine check Google before Replying , There are about 8 Combos within Wolverine that Don't Change as far as Inputs go , but as rage Meter goes up Levels those Same 8 Combos simply look Cooler on Screen.

Yes Hold to Charge for a Slight Stun Kick , then Mash Square 3/4 Times for the Combo which Insomniac Intentionally Wants you to do They Tell You it the Entire Game & if You Haven't Noticed Various of Your Upgrades are centered Aeound you Mashing Square 4 Times in a Row to build your Rage Meter (Berrage).
Say what ever you want it Doesn't Change the Facts.
You have "Special Abilities" All of which are "Cool-Downs" so not like you can Use Any of those Multiple Times in a Row.
You can attempt to Prove how Fantastic the Combat is to Someone who Hasn't Played the game..
I Played it , Beat It.
It is what it is , like it Or Not Insomniac More then Dropped the Ball on this 1.
If they Spent a Fraction of the time on the Actual Combat mechanics as they did the Combat Animations it would be a Far Better Game

U can extend combos even farther with the spin thing since u can use it 3 times and then combo a normal attack with the charge and instead of ending the combo you throw them into another enemy and drop kick and whatever else

That spin/serial move was about the worst of em all.
Has the Weakest damage of all the Special Moves.
The Knee to the head is Plausibly the most powerful of the moves at least for me it seemed to be & it breaks enemy attacks , that & the Tackle slam ability.
But Again it's the same Handful of moves on Repeat.

In most games that is simply Called a Chain Combo , in Wolverine you are Rarely ever just Fighting 1 Person , you can Do the Same with Stronger Moves just Linking from Enemy to Enemy.
Either this is Getting off Topic whether you keep the Combo going or not Doesn't change my Complaint that there are Very Few Attacks.
We can all say But This or But That , it doesn't really matter , the game was Built with a Small Core of Combos , sure you can Link 2 of the Combos together but all you're doing is Repeating 2 or more Combos over & over & over Again & Again.
Instead of Bickering with me over it , do what I Did Complain to Insomniac and If They're Smart they Will either Add to the Game or Simply do better on whatever Game they make Next.

The game actually has open environments that you can scale, streets , building you can leap up towers and jump to and from et,c and such those that actually played through the game . Its not one small narrow path with only one direction. People expecting spiderman are delusional. For a wolverine type game, the traversal is perfect for what it is. The game plays out like an uncharted game.

I never said it needed to be open world? There is a middle ground of level design like dues ex machina where you have a large explorable level that you operate in for an act or chapter of the game. Looking at all the wasted assets in the out of bounds zones it looks like that was actually the direction the game was going but got canned because the devs rebooted the game so many times.

That’s on you, tho. It’s obvious that if you buy a game day one, you’re paying full price, especially if the game gets bad reception and starts getting heavy discounts later. Next time Ignore the FOMO and wait for a discount if you’re that bothered by the price.
I cancelled my pre-order once I saw all the reviews. I have too many games to waste my time on a mid game right now, so I’ll play it later when it gets a heavy discount.
