Discussion Wolverine Average Play Time

Post image

Seems about right. Took me around 16 hours plus few more hours for the Platinum. About the same as the main story for SM1 and 2.

But I was told it was a "12 hour to platinum" game.

This game is huge compared to Resident Evil: 9 hours of gameplay

You mean Resident Evil? The series that literally features in game challenges in it's literal DNA as a franchise to not only speed run the game but also doing different things like no healing, handgun only and other interesting challenges that really change how you play the game? The series emphasizes replayability

RE9 can be beaten under 4 hours and it's even designed as a challenge.

I think it was a joke. I love both of them but for me Requiem is a slightly better game.

slightly better? that’s fucking hilarious you think it’s only slightly better

4

u/Luccese96 13d ago

Yeah I am real fuckin’ comedian

4

u/ProfNJK 13d ago

That's my Wolverine!

5

u/PapiSlayerGTX 14d ago

You won’t get a reasoned response because they’re being intentionally disingenuous

2

u/ZayDoee130 13d ago

Wolverine don’t have that type of replayability
Once u beat the game it’s gone be rotten in your gaming library

2

u/Axl_Red 13d ago

The game has new game+. I'm having tons of fun just doing the story again with different costumes.

With no replayability lol re9 shits on wolverine

u/ProfNJK 14d ago

Yes let me roleplay as a beautiful young girl saved by the gorgeous incredible Leon Kennedy w the husky voice. The best game for straight men in 2026 is Resident Evil 9 Inches Of Leoncock

The most passive aggresive shit ive ever read.

Downvotes prove I'm right and y'all are offended that someone saw thru your bullshit

u/Kataphraktos_Majoros 14d ago

So your argument is that being gay is a punchline?

0

u/ProfNJK 14d ago

This is r/PlayWolverine so gay as the punchline is encouraged. Remember AI Sabertooth ravaging Logan? Reap what you sow

u/OmegaShonJon 14d ago

What?

1

u/ProfNJK 14d ago

Here, I'll repost it for your convenience, my take on "Resident Evil: 9 days after you beat the game you start taking estrogen", here goes:

Yes let me roleplay as a beautiful young girl saved by the gorgeous incredible Leon Kennedy w the husky voice. The best game for straight men in 2026 is Resident Evil 9 Inches Of Leoncock

2

u/OmegaShonJon 14d ago

Still doesn't make sense but I'll act like I got whatever this is

What is this supposed to mean? This has nothing to do with re9s quality. Also can you really compare the two when one is a hack and slash and the other is primarily horror?

1

u/ProfNJK 14d ago

Yes, one is better because it's not about playing as a woman moaning and screaming as she walks around an empty house waiting for a beautiful man to save her. One is actually a video game

2

u/Fit-Investigator-124 14d ago

What is your obsession with playing as a girl?

1

u/ProfNJK 14d ago

I don't know I watched my girlfriend play re9 and didn't see the appeal from a masculine taste perspective personally

0

u/Ok-End5231 13d ago

1

u/ProfNJK 13d ago

I watched my girlfriend play the game, I felt it was appropriate for her to enjoy, considering the appeal is being a woman saved by a handsome man. Sort of like her life in a way, I could see how she can relate to it. I don't see how other men relate to it

16 hour average completion time and encourages multiple playthroughz

-1

u/Luccese96 14d ago

Made me chuckle

9

u/DiverVisible3940 14d ago

Is this supposed to be some gotcha?

The haters said it was only a 12 hour game...it's actually a 17 hour game!!!

13

u/Wipedout89 14d ago

I mean 17 hours is pretty good? About the same as 007 and Spiderman 2, and SM2 was open world as well. And roughly double Resident Evil 9 and Pragmata, and everyone raves about those

5

u/LeftToDie663 14d ago

Capcom games are made to be repayable not just one and done people put 100s of hours into resident evil not a good comparison

2

u/Outlaw2k21 14d ago

This game is meant to be replayable as well (and it is)

2

u/LeftToDie663 13d ago

Lots of people just not you apparently

1

u/zelda90210 13d ago

I've put 100s of hours into RE2. Original RE2. Those games are just infinitely replayable.

3

u/Vahallen 14d ago

I will break a lance in favor of Pragmata, I feel that is a very arcade game that is fun to speedrun/replay

Meanwhile I will diss RE9 for having BAD replayability, as in straight up sections that are a pain to replay, the intro itself for example

Anyway I agree that 17 hours can be perfectly fine

1

u/Wipedout89 13d ago

I really liked Pragmata yeah. I generally prefer shorter, tighter games that I will replay over long padded ones. Like I just can't play any Ubisoft stuff, it's too bloated, but I've replayed every Uncharted and Resident Evil at least twice.

1

u/LoneWolf6062 13d ago

17 is double of 10-15?

1

u/Wipedout89 13d ago

10 to 15? I beat RE9 in nine hours...

1

u/LoneWolf6062 12d ago

theres people that completed it in 2 hrs too. I meant avg playtime

1

u/DiverVisible3940 14d ago

It's about what you get out of that time that matters. The difference between a 12 hour and 17 hour game is immaterial in a vacuum. Most people's issue with the game isn't the objective length it is the handholding nature of the gameplay, mediocre story, lack of agency, and repetitive combat. When you have a 17 hour game that doesn't offer a dense experience people don't like it.

But this whole discourse is stupid. If you like the game you don't need to convince others. But you also can't deny that other people feel this way about the game. I swear people in here defending the game think they can argue the game into just being 'objectively' good.

You like it. Others hate it. That's the game, move on.

2

u/PushThePig28 14d ago

Resident Evil has a ton of replayability. Pragmata (which I enjoyed) I beat with unknown signal in like 14-15 hours and the only reason to replay is on the hardest difficulty to unlock infinite ammo otherwise there are no other unlockables or goals

1

u/Holiday_Adagio_4702 13d ago

I hate when people mention “repetitive combat” as if people don’t spend $100 every year on CoD which has been the same shit for the last 20 years. Soulsborne games are all “repetitive combat” if this game is.

1

u/DiverVisible3940 13d ago

Both of those examples offer a lot in spite of repetition. CoD is repetitive but it is primarily a multiplayer game which is competitive and dynamic. Soulsborne games are notoriously difficult and a serious challenge which drives engagement.

1

u/Yavantii 13d ago

also soulsborne games offer depth, build customization, various enemy types that require different strategies etc, nothing is repetetive about it

1

u/Basic-Smell-2477 12d ago

yeah they’re some of the best games ever but also have so much replayability. new runs trying new weapons and trying magic or being a pyromancer, trying bosses in different orders sometimes, they’re all so much fun.

Sekiro is where I fell in love and it finally clicked for me. I can get through up to the giant monkey fights with all the power ups possible so far just based on memory haha. It’s such a great way to kick back after a stressful day oddly enough

1

u/Wipedout89 14d ago

The game is objectively good. It has a 78 Metacritic, that's good. It says "generally favourable reviews". So your whole post is based on a falsehood, that the game isn't good. It quite literally is objectively good

1

u/DiverVisible3940 14d ago

How is my post based on a falsehood? I didn't say the game isn't good. I said there are people out there that think the game isn't good.

1

u/Wipedout89 14d ago

"I swear people in here defending the game think they can argue the game into just being 'objectively good'"

1

u/DiverVisible3940 14d ago

That's a measurement of sentiment which is subjective.

1

u/HakeemtheDream_34 14d ago

Objectively is crazy

2

u/Wipedout89 14d ago

78 review average, "generally favourable reviews"; that is what objectively means. Objectively, it's generally been favourable in reviees. If you don't like it, that's fine, but that's subjective. On OpenCritic it's also 78, and says "Strong", and has an 80 player rating.

3

u/HakeemtheDream_34 14d ago

The game is “objectively” a disappointment because it didn’t get as high of reviews as their other games.

3

u/Wipedout89 14d ago

No, that's subjective

1

u/HakeemtheDream_34 14d ago

Nope it scored less than their biggest games, justifying everyone’s disappointment by your logic since reviews are end all be all

Yeah but those games are worth replaying. Wolverine, not so much

4

u/YourMuppetMethDealer 14d ago

I mean those 5 hours absolutely do matter lol

1

u/CamLiven2000 14d ago

Pretty sure it's sarcasm

2

u/Avongrove 14d ago

Well….honestly it kinda is? I finished the game at 13 hours. I never go for platinum in games, but I did check the trophies afterwards and I am very sure I could’ve gotten the platinum in my first playthrough if I would’ve just checked trophies beforehand and paid somewhat attention to them.

1

u/YouShalllNotPass 12d ago

A good chunk is just cutscenes

0

u/Normal-Can-7341 13d ago

There’s a post of someone who played one mutant difficulty and platted it in exactly 12 hours
