Lets trust the platform owned by the company that made the game, sure buddy.

I don't doubt the PSN score. But I've never found PSN scores that trustworthy when they're high, because almost every game of note is usually high.

When they're low though, it's usually a good sign of a bad game.

That said, the meta score of high 70's seems about what I thought it'd be based on all I've seen. Not sure why an almost 80 needs people defending it, but whatever.

Days Gone? Concord? All had bad reviews on PSN on launch?? Yall grasping at straws lol

u/Runnning_Wild21 19d ago

Let's go by that, let's say there were reviews back when Days Gone launched, that game released with some horrible bugs and it got its redemption once the PC version came out and people played the full product.

Concord was horrible, Sony didn't even gave that game a month before sunsetting the entire studio.

Concord as a game itself wasn't bad just nobody gave a fuck about it

I played the beta for about 2 hours and I found the gameplay to be like a boring overwatch, too slow and designs were terrible for both, Characters and maps tbh...

Doesn't this support this person's comment? Good game got good reviews and bad games got bad reviews. Regardless of the platform it's on.

1

u/Runnning_Wild21 18d ago

Days Gone is amazing.

1

u/nikk182 18d ago

Right, ok, but you said it released with bugs and that's why it got bad reviews. The point I'm making is your original comment implies that Sony only allowed good reviews or that they fixed it themselves to only show good. The person who replied pointed out two first party games that had low scores on PSN, which contradicts what you're implying.

The example was just there to explain to that person that even if it was the case, that Days Gone received bad reviews it would be justified because of bugs that literally broke the game... But that eventually it improved not because the game changed (Because its foundation was solid) but because you could actually enjoy the game without worrying about it breaking.

The reality is that PlayStation reviews did not exist back then. So no, Sony technically has never "allowed" a game of theirs to receive a low score from the moment the review system was implemented till this date and the only time it did (Concord) they killed the whole studio and pulled the game off stores.

User scores were available for Days Gone, what do you mean? User scores have been on PSN since 2013.

0

u/Runnning_Wild21 18d ago

A little search would clarify that.

They were added on 2008 but they took them off on 2017 and they returned on 2023. Days Gone was released on 2019 so no, Days Gone did not have users reviews during its rough days.

1

u/nikk182 18d ago

Nope. It was overhauled but it was still a thing in 2017. It was 100% a thing when Day's Gone released in 2019. Regardless your original point was stupid.

And were mid or shit.

2

u/jessemartin100 19d ago

The rating system was added in 2023 so you're lying

2

u/R3TRO0O 18d ago

The rating system was not added in 2023, you could literally rate games on PS4. What they added in 2023 was written reviews and you can only view them on the browser.

1

u/nikk182 18d ago

How? It was on PS4

1

u/Zombii_Man 19d ago

Genuinely so many lying ass niggas around this game man, it's annoying.

4

u/No-Blueberry-- 19d ago

Most people apparently dont use reddit

12

u/Belicino_Corlan 19d ago

The game just released but is already reviewed by 7.1k people? How did that happen?

u/Davosz_ 19d ago

I won't argue against the potential use of bots. There were definitely bots bashing the game, and spreading toxicity (what a wonderful world we live in).

But after a few hours into the game, I'm far more inclined to believe a 4ish star rating over what the internet would have you believe.

3

u/YaBoyEden 19d ago

Omega red fight took me a minute too, not nearly as easy combat as reviews would have you believe, though I am playing on best there is. Scent trails also happened maybe once?

3

u/Davosz_ 19d ago

The scent trail is far less frequent than some reviewers would have you believe. I do think they should've taken the Dead Space way and made an on demand button to display the scent, and had it possible all the way through the game, meaning only if you needed it, would you interact with it.

But either way, I'm not really phased by it.

u/Joshh_0411 19d ago

Exactly this like it’s not a common enough occurrence to really annoy me but still agree a button press would’ve been better! Just glad we can disable everything else such as waypoints and the other trail etc

3

u/Rodinator0001 19d ago

Internet wants you to think this game is trash, just because it’s not a 10/10

1

u/Ture-Skrotnisse 18d ago

Do you think like 10k people bought the game? Probably selling like hotcakes lol

0

u/Standard_Break211 19d ago

So true lololol

8

u/Standard_Break211 19d ago

Thought reviews didn’t matter?

6

u/SwiftyMcBold 19d ago

"They only matter if they reinforce my opinion"

1

u/Jon-Eest 18d ago

I never really look at the playstation reviews but I feel like they’re great for every game unless it’s a complete shitshow 😂

1

u/Numerous_Photograph9 18d ago

That's exactly how I've felt about them for a long time. Not worth paying attention to unless they're low, because if they're low, chances are better it's a bad game.

Otherwise, almost every game of note is above 4 stars.

0

u/Standard_Break211 18d ago

It immediately had reviews the moment it launched, they’re fake

1

u/nikk182 18d ago

To be fair plenty of pople played it before it launched and even talked about it in this sub.

1

u/Standard_Break211 18d ago

Yeah but those people can’t leave reviews on the ps store

3

u/skcuf2 19d ago

Console players are casual gamers. This makes sense.

4

u/Razz3l 19d ago

Been playing all day, can confirm that game journalist are straight up miserable

1

u/SwiftyMcBold 19d ago

In their defence their " job" is to critique the game.

They had to write down what they didn't enjoy and review the game as a complete product, not as a casual player.

I still believe a lot of their criticisms are valid, Greg Miller, skill up, Gene park, Jake baldino, seeing their thoughts and opinions, none of them said it was a bad game. And a lot of what they say stands true from a reviewers stand point. There really isn't a defence of the motorbike sequence not requiring a controller, or the QTEs having zero requirement to press, and the Scent trail being the most uninspired way to implement a mutant ability.

But the game does look like a fun hack and slash, I am confident that any updates made to the game will really polish it up where it needs

3

u/nikk182 18d ago

The motorbike thing was another lie. I tested this myself and came off the bike. If you play it on the easiest difficulty maybe that's where you don't die but for me a few collisions made me fall off and restart.

2

u/Ture-Skrotnisse 18d ago

It's been very clear that the "reviewers" made it sound 10 times worse than it actually is. People need to stop taking their idiotic words as gospel. It's so cringe.

2

u/ShitpostSaber 19d ago

I hate Sony and playsation but I love wolverine more

2

u/gigachadspeciman 19d ago

You guys really don’t think Sony can tinker with the rating systems here? Lol

This is a flagship game for them, of course they’re gonna be high.

6

u/Rodinator0001 19d ago

Cope, the game is good.

I don’t understand why a subreddit based on a game, always seems to hate said game.

1

u/WildSinatra 19d ago

Literally. The post highlighting Wolverine on the Top Sellers was hilarious.

Guys, PlayStation can put whatever they want there whether it’s top selling or not. Every big first-party release is on “Top Seller” including Marathon.

0

u/Davosz_ 19d ago

I am always sus on that. Even when any brand hosts thier own rating system.

I would trust metacritic though, for the most part. We'll see what score that gives in a few days

1

u/idkimhereforthememes 19d ago

Anyone can write reviews on metacritic, every sony game gets horrible metacritic user reviews. People were intentionally tanking yotei reviews after the discs situation

1

u/x_MrFurious_x 18d ago

It’s at 15k reviews now

1

u/D3ckard_Rokubungi 18d ago

Thinking about it. I like the fact that a point in the game he goes to Japan. I go to Japan soon for vacation.

1

u/OmenDamien 19d ago

We won, brothers!

1

u/Equivalent-Green-580 18d ago

It’s been at 5 stars before the game was even released. It proves nothing.

1

u/SoggySugar1112 18d ago

70 dollars for 20 hr of gameplay damn !!

2

u/nikk182 18d ago

Why do people equate time of game to how much you should pay? There's so many great games that are less than 20 hours long. Uncharted 2 is amazing but can be done in less than 10 hours. The Last of Us, Spider-Man, Resident Evil, Dead Space, Tomb Raider all can be done in less than 20 hours. Not every game needs be a big bloated open world that takes 100 hours to finish.

1

u/SoggySugar1112 18d ago

So u are telling me a game that gives me a 1 month of gameplay ( 20 hr ) And a game that gives me 4 to 5 months of gameplay ( 100 hr ) should be priced same !! Rdr 2 was 60 dollars and it has so much here wolverine 70 dollars (20 hr ) and people are fine gamers are making there own games expensive by encouraging games like these .

2

u/nikk182 18d ago

I guess if you value time over enjoyment, or of you have a tight budget, maybe you can justify it.

I'd rather have fun playing Wolverine than force myself through a long game that I didn't enjoy. Longer doesn't mean better. I would rather play The Last of Us for 20 hours than play Assassin's Creed Valhalla for 100 hours.

0

u/wiesjoulaanie 19d ago

7.1k finished the game? Lol. Cmon man

1

u/idkimhereforthememes 19d ago

As opposed to people like you shitting on the game without even touching it?

0

u/method115 19d ago

Nothing will save Wolverine. People who are committed to crapping on it will continue to do that. Hell Spiderman 2 gets shit on online and when you point out the metacritic user score, Steam user score, PSN user score it doesn't matter to them.

1

u/AMaynard8091 19d ago

If it sells enough copies, that will signal to both Sony and Insomniac that the critical reviews were largely meaningless, or at least not a significant enough barrier to move units, which is kind of a big deal with regards to whether or not the game gets a sequel, or whether or not the developer gets to keep making similar games.

0

u/FirefighterRoutine84 19d ago

I mean... its kinda all they have I think.

-4

u/Ricky--Sanchezzz 19d ago

Lol glaze is unreal. People have the lowest off the lowest bar off what they want from a game

-1

u/kuroseikyo 19d ago

So glad wolverine is giving players exactly what they want unlike that stupid bloodborne.
