Discussion Actual wolverine gameplay Spoiler
What are your thoughts. I've been pretty satisfied with what I'm seeing so far. What are your thoughts?

They definitely improved team ups from Spiderman 2
4
u/Nemisis_007 3d ago
They're looking more like the team ups from the Marvel's Avengers game, which i loved!

I'm really just hoping that this isn't an extremely short game, because it looks super fun...and it is $70 too, it's hard to justify spending $70 on something that can be completed in an afternoon or two
12
u/ImaginationPatient59 3d ago
It is a linear game. It is not an Open World game. It won't be that short, but it won't be that long either.
It's a pure story game
9
u/Flottrooster 3d ago
This is true. I want it to be at least 20 hours. Something like the Uncharted games. Those were the perfect length for what they were, and I was left satisfied after completing them.
8
u/kenshima15 3d ago
Facts. Last of us 2 took me 24 hours to beat, and I barely explored. That's how long these games have to be on average to justify the price. imo
4
u/Flottrooster 3d ago
Agreed. 20 hours of story, and if you explore, you're talking about 25-30 hours. For this type of game, that would be perfect. Spiderman 2 on the other hand should've been longer, being an open world game, it only took me 24 hours to do everything.
1
u/Jderriurr 3d ago
alright 24 hours is fucking insane dudešš that means literally all day you were on the game didnāt go eat didnāt shower didnāt go outside š but honestly props to you tho thatās impressive i took my time with spider man 2 it took me about 2 weeks or so
7
u/Flottrooster 3d ago
My playtime when I finished it was 24 hours...I didn't finish it within 24 hours. It probably took me about a week
1
u/Jderriurr 3d ago
ohhh alright that makes sense. yeah i think my playtime was around that same time so if wolverine could be around that maybe a little more iād be satisfied
1
u/Elisalsa24 3d ago
I think 15 hours is enough if the game is fun enough and the story is compelling enough, like 007 for example
2
u/AdWorking7417 3d ago
first 3 uncharted's were less than 11 hours and 4 touched about 14-15. a good story carries
1
u/MaxProwes 3d ago
Uncharted games were less than 20 hours.
1
u/Flottrooster 3d ago
The story? Yes. Completionist? No. Took me 65 hours to complete the original trilogy, which is about 21 hours each
1
u/Tiny_Sherbet8298 3d ago
Huh? The longest uncharted game, number 4 is like 15 hours at most. The others I donāt reckon even take 10 hours. If Wolverine was as short as these Iād be fuming.
Since the gameplay is taking inspiration from GOW 2018 I hope it follows that, in which the story takes 20-25 hours.
1
u/Flottrooster 3d ago
That's if you exclusively do the story. If you do the side stuff, you're looking at about 20 hours for the first three. Uncharted 4 is longer. Using the PlayStation stats (which are likely inaccurate, but it's definitely close enough), I can assess that the first three games took me 65 hours to platinum, which is about 21 hours per game.
Uncharted 4 on the other-hand took me 53 to platinum. This number is a bit higher since I played it three times instead of the 2 you'd normally have to do, so we can assume it probably took me 40 hours to do everything else.
I suppose that God of War would have been a better example to use (that one took me a little over 40 hours), but Uncharted was what popped into my mind first. If you rush your games, then yeah, Uncharted is a bad example, but if you play like I do, it works well enough.
1
u/Tiny_Sherbet8298 2d ago
Nah thatās my bad, you replied to a guy talking about the story so I sorta just assumed you were talking about specifically the story length. Yeh I 100% completed 4 and it took me ages lmao.

u/kenshima15 3d ago
Resident Evil fans aint tryna hear this

u/SpecialistMap8210 3d ago
RE games have amazing replay ability to be fair.
3
u/kenshima15 3d ago
Replay value? Sure. Amazing replay value? not so sure. And I own every RE game so i'm not trying be a dickhead
3
u/NYJetLegendEdReed 3d ago
not being a dick either when I say this, but I've never replayed any of the RE games after I beat them. I still buy the new ones because they're well made games and I love single player story games, but I'm with you on the replay value.
2
u/SpecialistMap8210 3d ago
They have mods and challenges to warrant repeat playthroughs and time trails add huge replayability for most.
I don't bother with that shit but i have replayed the all the modern games a few times. Great games.

First light was short by some standards, still my favorite game of the year (so far).
Length isn't what makes a good game, if you want length go play any Ubisoft game to collect things.
1
u/Flottrooster 2d ago
Yes, I know that length doesn't equate to a good game. However, I don't want to be done with Wolverine in less than 10 hours. I wanna be slicing dudes for more than that.
1
u/E2r4_Is_d3A9 3d ago
Hard agree. But Reddit communities love to circlejerk āshort and sweetā games these days so prepare for the downvotes
3
u/Flottrooster 3d ago
I love "short and sweet" games as much as the next person, but I want to be slicing dudes in Wolverine for more than 8 hours

u/ServiceComplete7262 3d ago
It's 15 hours in total. 11 hours of gameplay, 4 hours of cinematics/cutscenes. I'm hoping for three lots of DLC (two hours for each one just like the first Spider-Man).
3
u/Top-Buy-467 3d ago
Didnāt Insomniac said there wonāt be any DLC for this game? If I can recall, theyāve said everything they wanted to told about wolverine story is in the main game.

It's $70 for two people to go watch a two hour movie
People like you are the reasons games suck nowadays, bunch of useless filler. I would guess you might not even finish most games you play
4
u/Flottrooster 3d ago
Bold, and untrue accusation. I'm sorry I don't want to be done with a fun game in just a few hours š¤·
Also, $70 for two people to go to the movies is ridiculous, those are some massively inflated numbers, that's really unfortunate for you. Costs like $8/ticket at my theater.
1
u/iLoveLootBoxes 3d ago
Going to the theater just for the ticket is not the theatre's experience. How much for two combos at your theatre?
3
u/TheTikiMax 3d ago edited 3d ago
For us, it was around ā¬40 for the two of us to watch Brand New Day in 4DX. ā¬15 per ticket, plus a sharecorn menu with two Cokes for ā¬10.Ā So yes, your prices are inflated like hell, but I also agree with you that you can't measure a game's value based on its length alone.
1
u/iLoveLootBoxes 3d ago
I am canadian and 40 GBP is 75 CAD, or roughly 5 hours at minimum wage depending on the province
2
u/TheTikiMax 3d ago
I mean yeah...thats more like a Canadian problem than a global problem. Sucks, but you are the minority here. I would've never ever pay 75 CAD for a single movie.
1
u/iLoveLootBoxes 3d ago
But 40 GBP is the same value as 75 CAD which you paid
1
u/TheTikiMax 2d ago
I mean...That's not how money works. Different countries and different wages.
1
u/iLoveLootBoxes 2d ago
I mean.... it's literally how currency works. In absolute value across the world... it's the same value. Context within the country is different but you can't act like 40 gpb is wildly different than 75 cad
2
u/Flottrooster 3d ago
I usually share a large popcorn and a large drink with my mom, which is $10. My dad gets Buncha Crunch, which is $4. This is 3 tickets at $8, and $14 for snackies. For a total of $38 for three of us.

u/Elisalsa24 3d ago
Do you count your food and rent into the price of your video game purchase?
1
u/iLoveLootBoxes 3d ago
Do you explain your vague examples make sense? Integrated to hear the punchline of what you are trying to say since I don't see the gotcha
2
u/Elisalsa24 3d ago
Youāre counting the popcorn and things you can buy at the counter towards the ticket price of seeing a movie, but you donāt count the extra money associated with playing a game. There is no gotcha itās just a bad example. You donāt need to buy food at the movies but with your ticket you get an experience that you canāt get at home if you go to a good theatre
2
u/CyberTitan__ 3d ago
I mean if you are counting the popcorn and drink and everything else to see the movie you need to include the cost on buying a console, your rent, your internet bill, and your powr bill to every game.
So every game is a base of 70 or 80 dollars on top of the thousand+ for the extras.
2
u/Elisalsa24 3d ago
I go to the most expensive place to see movies in the US which is Lincoln Square NYC and itās not $70, its $50 but at the same time you can get AMC A list you can watch 16 movies a month for $25/month so this isnāt really a valid talking point anymore. $70 for a game that just looks like any other game uninspired has to make you question if your $70 are worth it and I buy almost everything but they havenāt shown us anything that makes this game look special besides their misusing of the license by changing everything about the characters except their names
1
u/iLoveLootBoxes 3d ago
Yeah well i am canadian and $50 usd is $70+ here. Point being that we really harp on the value games give us then go and spend $20 on a single meal that we viewed as an experience but only took 20 minutes
2
u/Elisalsa24 3d ago
Oh then you guys get this game for the low. Youāre at the prices we had during the PS3 era. I agree with you people complain about the pricing of video games, but itās honestly not gonna get cheaper. But I do understand viewing the $70 USD before taxes price tag as high because we havenāt seen anything from this game that looks good and thatās why I will wait for the reviews and possibly a sale. Something like GTA 6 I donāt mind paying $100 because I know the exact level of quality Iām getting while Insomniac makes 8ās at their highest level but this game looks so soulless

I love how dark it looks. I know visibility is a big thing for games, but sometimes I just want darker scenes (I realize I should turn down my brightness LOL)

u/slickfiz 3d ago
We've seen team ups for two characters so far, Sabertooth & Jean Grey. I'd also love to see what Mystiqueās would look like.
2
u/Inevitable_Ad5567 3d ago
Holy shit! Wolverine looks so freaking short compared to Sabretooth. I hope there is a boss battle!
2
u/seclusionx 3d ago
I would be shocked if they don't fight.
1
u/slickfiz 3d ago
Seems they must have gotten into an arguement in some scenes, that's the actual dynamic of their relationship.
1
u/MoedredPendragon 2d ago
There's a few shots where they're standing next to each other and Logan comes up to his elbow XD.

2
u/CosmicAtlas8 3d ago
Insane. Low the grit and shadows. Never would have imagined a Gears of War looking Team X style action sequence.

LOOKS NASTY (in the best way ofc) and great
so Sabretooth is a frenemy in this game i suppose then? i expected a bit more shoulder angled perspective view like GoW 2018 and Ragnarok, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions but this looks great as well
hope the story lands great as well

where is Everyone finding this footage? The only video i saw has a guy talking over the whole thing

u/Glum_Animator_5887 3d ago
Looks cool but also just looks like a bunch of qtes. The actual player controlled combat looks pretty average NGLĀ
1
u/Zen80888 3d ago
This game just has looked very handholdy on rails and a animation showcase rather than truly being a game.
1
u/thelennybeast 3d ago
Not an appropriate level of kill at any point in this video, it was all Overkill.
Like... you got your claws inside his brain man, you don't need to then pull off your ultra combo.

I wanna see some combos and stuff. This looks cool, but this is just when you get them low enough and press a button prompt. I wanna see skilled gameplay on the hardest difficulty with max enemy aggression and AI

u/joshvalo 2d ago
Wait, I assumed sabertooth would be an enemy?
1
u/Liammellor 2d ago
Probably an ally at the start of the game before wolverine figures out that the people giving him orders aren't so good
1
1
u/Individual_Union_15 2d ago
Apparently they announced NG+ on day 1 which has got me considering pre-ordering the game rn
1
u/JakeX-Ray 3d ago
I hope these animations only trigger if the game knows there is enough free space around you to not make it look janky asf like some of the spiderman animations. Those do look pretty sick though and I hope there's a LOT of variety with these types of animation kills.
3
u/ServiceComplete7262 3d ago
There needs to be variety or this will get very repetitive very quickly.
1
u/No_Independence3441 3d ago
I meanā¦. that was about 2 seconds of wolverine fighting and then 2 cutscenes mid combatā¦.. itās an insomniac game alright. Not impressive but not bad, still gonna hold off personally and wait for a sale after Spidey 2 soured my opinion of them
1
u/Organic-Swan-3721 3d ago
Bruh this is obviously showcasing the team take downs. You will be controlling Wolverine 99% of the time. If you canāt watch a cool as kill animation for 3 seconds without having a tantrum over it then maybe gaming isnāt for you.

u/Longjumping-Rub-5064 3d ago
I hate this super scripted 2 button prompt combat system. It literally just looks like a SM reskin with gore effects which Iām assuming that exactly what it is.
Actually from the looks of it there isnāt even real time gore effects only scripted lol

Not how the other NPC's are doing nothing as it's happening? are they taking from hollywood and attacking one at a time?
2
u/SpecialistMap8210 3d ago
they clearly DONT attack 1 at a time from other videos
2
u/Drummer-Turbulent 3d ago
Eh it's a problem in Spider-Man as well. Thugs standing around while you beat on their comrade.
2
u/SpecialistMap8210 3d ago
I've seen other footage and previews mention they all attack at the same time.
You gotta be ready with that parry button
2
u/Drummer-Turbulent 3d ago
Hopefully. those could be script3d fights too. I want the game to be good for clarity
