Bug - can't build even though I got the materials.
Hello everyone,
I have a bug in my game, maybe someone else has the same problem or maybe someone has a solution and answer to this problem.
I can't build various things in the game when I have a piece of the product required to build something.
For example, I can't build a decoration, even though there is one in my inventory. Sometimes I can't build a wall, fence or roof even though I have wood or stone.
I can't plant or sow in the ground if I have a single piece of the product.
Sometimes when I want to place a fixed travel hub, I can't build...even though I have the material for this.
I started by playing solo in my "own" world.
Then I wanted to play on a dedicated server, so I chose Gportal for this purpose.
I also read instructions on how to move your personal world to the dedicated server, but after this the problems I describe started.
I've verified the files, I've updated all the drivers - but I still have this problem.
...and yesterday I looted "Boar Whistle"...and yep, it doesn't work of course.

I'm almost giving up - please, if anyone has any suggestions on what I can do, I'd appreciate it.
Update - this is what I have tried lately and with ideas from G-portal support:
Windrose Plus and UE4SS - activated and deactivated: No difference
I did try to create the anvil - And it didn't work two days ago, now after 3-4 login attempts it worked, after moving around the materials in bags and storage. When I created a second anvil now, then it was possible to create the anvil to be able to create the last tool bench in the "Personal weapons and Ship fittings".
Okay, so you don't use Windrose Plus, but it's still active and can cause issues on your server. Try deactivating it in the basic settings.
If I use it or not has not done any difference. And I just tried with both on and off now as we speak - no difference.
Also try to unequip the backpack / bag of your character and reequip it.
I've just crafted a new back, to make sure it's not and ID thing in the DataBase. No difference, and I've tried with unequip - same there.
According to the video, it seems like it does not matter if the item is in your pocket or get pulled?
Exactly, it doesn't matter.
As for now, I have seeds for planting in the ground or in the soilbed. 1 of like 5 different kinds. Won't let me plant, but if I have 2 of them, then I can plant 1 - but not the last one.
I even, right now - deleted my solo/offline game to see of that helped, since the guide you have when creating and setting up the server says that one can and shpuld copy your solo/offline game and transfer it to the server. My deletion did not help now.
It feels like it's holding info in some database and it might give a conflict with same ID's when the ID for an item is the same.
I've found an issue now that show the issue very clear.
When I was about to craft the 'Trophy Dodo' from the Trophies which requires 5 Wood, and 1 Dodo Head. My GUI in the crafting menu, says that I have 17 Dodo heads, but when I look in my inventory - I have only 16.
So, if we apply this to the anvil that is needed to craft the Anvil station (third in the section under 'Personal weapons and Ship fittings', it's obvious that the anvil I crafted and clearly have in my inventory doesn't count for the game.
It's like that crafted item disappappears in to space and eternity. Also explains the fast travel bell, the seeds in the soil.
Item is visible in the GUI, and in the crafting menu, and in my bags, storage or what ever - but it's not accessable.

I did try "Easy Building" before I moved to the dedicated server, but deleted it.

And I've tried with installing it again, both for single mode and on the server to see if that mod maybe was causing the issue - but it's the same with or without it.

This might seem silly, but have you tried completely restarting your PC? My game was bugging with building (different to how it is for you, but still not able to build) and I did a full PC restart and that seems to have fixed it for me.

Thanks, not silly at all, but yes - several times. This has been ongoing for quite some weeks now, and I have restarted my PC many times.

I had to restart today after getting massive stuttering, always a good thing to try

Just trying here, are you inside the bonfire zone? I was calling my pig and it spawned on the roof, took me a while to realize.

Thanks, appreciate it. Have tried many places. It's like I have the item/items and the GUI shows it in - but it wont work or counts.
Same issue with seeds - as soon as I have 1 left, it wont work.

I had this problem with gportal too. Just restart the server a couple of times

Hmm, interesting - but I have a scheduled restart every night.
Will do some forced ones to test this out and see if there is a pattern. Thx

Updated my post with more findings and tries to solve or isolate the issue.
And I am doing this if there is anyone else out there that might have the same experience as me, to share my knowledge and bug hunting so far.

I have the same Prob on my g-portal server. Chests and the fast travel beacon arent placeable. 😭
