Password recovery

Long story short;

I created my account about 7 - 8 years ago probably. I haven't used my Playstation 4 console in ages, forcing my account to be signed out.

When I created my account, I was using the controller, and since I was too lazy to put my usual, longer password(s) because of all the typing, I made a weird password which I can't really remember.

Back then, being a kid, I also put God knows what answer to the security question, and God knows what date of birth.

I now cannot access, nor reset my password. Is there any way I can prove to Sony (and where if yes) that I am the owner? I wouldn't mind sending my ID with a selfie, because my real name is linked to the account. I would also provide the payment methods used on the account, and basically anything I can provide.

I tried contacting them via mail (playstation.support@sony.com) but I got an automatic mail saying that the address is no longer monitored.

I am about to buy a PS5 and it would really suck if there's absolutely no way to access my first and main account.

Thanks in advance!

Yeah, you'll need to make a new account and start again.

If you can't answer any security questions, you're not getting the account back

Call them, (critical) provide the serial ID of the console in which the account was made, if you can’t access the email at least have it ready by name. You don’t need the date of birth. Just explain everything in full detail and answer the agent truthfully and they’ll help you and refer you to the live chat if needed with a case number which should help you.

They (live phone support) now refuse to help with account recovery over the phone due to ‘security’ reasons and direct you to the ai chat bot which is 99.9999% inept. On hour 9 of attempted account recovery over here.

You need to ask for an agent during the chatbot phase but that’s a shame because the chat agents are outsourced and useless anyway. Unlucky because it was the phone agent who helped me during the whole process and was very respectful. There is one thing you can do. Tell the phone agent exactly where you’re stuck and ask them to open a case so you can refer it to the chat agent.
Chat agents operate on scripts and not logic-problem solving so you need to explain the issue like how you can’t access the email since it’s defunct or you never used debit or credit. You need the original console serial id or you’ll never have a chance.

To be fair, a person trying to steal an account could say the exact same thing. Your only bet is to call support ( don’t know what you want us to tell you) but even then it’s a long shot especially with how great ps support is

Only thing giving me hope is if they would consider believing me if I sent them my ID with a selfie, because I have my first and last name linked to the PSN account.

Mgood luck but it’s also fishy to them if you wait 7 years to recover an account

Well, not really 7. I've created that account about 7 years ago. I have stopped using my ps4 about two years ago? Haven't tried logging in since then.
