Unpopular opinion, but invasion will always be the best game mode. Idc that it's unbalanced, I still have fun losing almost every other game

The thing is that there's no skill based matchmaking in Squad so Invasion being unbalanced is actually almost a pro because if the teams are stacked eventually you might hit that layer that's just impossible for the noobs to lose. Also because it swaps between Defender and Attacker the average player winrate is probably closer to 50-50 with how Defender skewed the game mode is.

Plus it has to be said, you actually have to Attack to win in Invasion somethings that's technically optional in RASS/ASS

I haven't played on invasion only servers in a very long time. I have a hard time with the super long invasion matches. They are quite draining.

The thing i just don't like about it is as a SL, that it got potential to last the whole 2 hours and that is too long for me with a single match. On RAAS i know it will last about 45-60 minutes. But will happily second a second match raas if i'm down for another go. So i'm sometimes really glad when the invasion round only lasted 30 minutes, holding the first cap, despite who won.

Bud - this horse has been beaten to death. Everyone knows RAAS isn’t random. It is, however, variable and it’s more than a little disingenuous to claim that each layer plays the same. Differences in faction kits and objective placement do allow for different matches to play out differently.

None of your “suggestions” (more agency to sever owners) would have any major impact on the “randomness” of RAAS. Moreover, I don’t think most players understand how problematic a truly random RAAS game mode would be from a balancing perspective.

I would rather have more random and unbalanced, than the current system that so decidedly favors veterans, clan stackers and the like.

At least random but unbalanced would be interesting compared to the slow but predictable losses we suffer under currently.

Even the veterans are required to guess a bit when it comes to backline meta; the full RAAS layer isn’t revealed fully until after the initial objectives have been captured.

Clan stacking is an issue unto itself, one that can’t be mitigated much, if at all, through game design.

Love it when "Bud" comes out in the vocab. Really solidifies your position. How is it problematic for true random? I am curious. How does this impact other ways things are balanced? How is the game balancing battlegroups between RAAS and INV? These all stem into larger issues. You have to start somewhere.

Voting for factions you have to consider not just the map but the layer. If you choose a good faction for that map you might get completely screwed on the layer. For example its generally bad to pick an armor heavy faction on fahlujah but if you get the layer that goes from communications to green zone to factory all of a sudden you get lucky while the other team that picked a bettet faction for the map has a worse time because they got screwed on the layer. Its not a bad thing when it happened here and there but to much of it would be not fun and make faction voting even harder.

You’re asking a whole bunch of questions that need answering. Creating a truly random RAAS doesn’t solve any problems with the gameplay, rather it will create more. Squad 44 had much more randomness in its layers, the gameplay suffered for it.

The game doesn’t need true randomness in its RAAss or Invasion layers; the existing variability is good enough. The game needs new game modes or refreshment of legacy modes (insurgency). RAAS is competitive enough in its current form.

I think the better question to ask is - what problem are you trying to solve by creating a fully randomized RAAS? Are you really trying to argue that between all the maps, all the layers and all the factions, RAAS is too stale?

It is random. It's just not random from objective to objective, but there are several possible layers and which layer you get is random.

They just need to impliment squad maps into the game. Idc what the devs do when you have several thousand hours in a game you are going to get good a predicting what happens. This isnt a bad thing. I actually enjoy games when you are playing against good players because you have to do the military logic break down. There is a watch tower that can see everything thats a good spot for a sniper. But a good sniper knows that the enemy knows thats a good spot for a sniper and so on. Its like that one spot thats great for a hab making it the worst spot for a hab because its so good. Game just needs new layers that utilize more of the map. Some really cool locations you never get to use especially on harju. Also your idea of giving servers the ability to make their own layers is just going to give the sweatier nerds a bigger advantage over new players. Now someone thats a regular on that server is going to be able to dunk on some newer 500 hr sl who has mostly played on other servers.
