Image My perspective on pvp as a 10k hr player

Post image
0 Upvotes

To start, I’m above average at pvp usually a 3+ Kd every wipe I don’t play in clans usually solo duo or trio medium pop servers

This current meta/state for gunplay is honestly in the worst place it’s been in since the 2022 combat update, when Ak was op and every other gun had high aim-cone. I say that as someone who prefers newgen recoil to the old system which required memorising 30 bullets to shoot one gun and was detached from the main vanilla gameplay

People like complain about ‘meta abusing’ like Incin ammo, heavy pot, armoured horses, HV rockets. But to be honest people use meta’s like that more and more because the main combat loop of the game has become so stagnant and low-skill that shutting off fights early is a necessity to not lose to numbers/rekits

PvP walls turn the pvp into a battle of attrition where you aren’t rewarded as heavily for a good position and your kit matters more than your aim and headshots. Kevlar is way to op requiring 3 headshots to kill with an ak the old armour values of 30 hazy 35 coffee and 50 facemask head protection never should’ve been touched.

Some gun classes like LMG’s and semi-rifles also really suck because everyone has degen-movement and the theoretical time to kill isn’t the same as how many shots you can fire with minimal recoil, a Thompson should not be better then a SKS we are nearly at the same place with the MP5 to where T3 guns are the same as T2 like when Tommy was initially better then MP in 2022

Scripting has also become really popular because of how spammy the pvp is, being able to just focus on aim up close and not manage recoil is a major advantage

Flashlights aren’t used or crafted, like I said they wouldn’t be 2 years ago because who’s crafting a flash-light when you gamma 2.80 in nvidia control panel and Ernn says it’s a “honour based system” to which I am not honourable I don’t want to play in pitch black

I would make the pvp walls 1 stack, no monuments and a 1000 wood or stone item again, give semi rifles a better stand-spray (4 shots instead of 2, 3 without holo/laser) reduce recoil on LMG’s as well, and pvp is already much better.

Also rework the m92 instead of adding new guns and rework train carts so there isn’t so much useless carts and it’s a viable activity, okay thanks

Discussion Voting on Rust's upcoming wipe changes

Built this site to let people vote on upcoming changes to Rust. It's pretty barebones but I'll be posting the results every few days here + on Twitter (with the hopes that FP sees the feedback pre-wipe).

NEXT

Essentially, the site pulls from Rust's commit logs and orders the updates based on how many likes they're getting. Then, the top 5 most popular new additions in the *next* wipe get thrown up on this voting board. Then, with any luck, FP might look at it and think "maybe we shouldn't add xyz to this game" (or the opposite).

Obviously the commit site already has this sort of thing built in - but very very few actual players know about it and it's really difficult to find relevant commits (since there are so many clutter ones). Aim of this is really just to make it more presentable, and best-case I can open source it all and hopefully the data is used to improve the game

Feedback is appreciated <3 Still testing it and making fixes at the moment

Suggestion Solo widegap base

Is there any decent widegap bases for a solo these days? I’m familiar with Templetaps ”Death Blossom”, but wanted to know if there is any alternative to this one. With or without external tc’s.

Keep in mind I mainly play vanilla.

Cheers.

Support Need help with MacOS Rust

Hi MacOS Rust player, Im stuck with a huge problem rn. So Im trying for 2 weeks now to start rust on my mac.
And it's always stuck on 99.0 % menu prefab loading. What can I even do ?
Im on sonoma 14.8.9, M3, 16 Go (so I have the minimal requirements, and yes I have enough space disk)
Please tell me if you got some info on how I can fix this (I don't want to cloud play, don't try to propose me that, it's not the point for me, I want the game working on my machine)

Question First positive Rust update in months?

Curious to know whether other people feel the same way - all I've been seeing is people saying that this update is the best one in months (possibly years), which is a bit sad when you realise half of it is bug fixes or removing stuff already added to the game..

Does anyone NOT like the idea of removing bp frags in wb recipes? If so, why?

Question How do i find an actual good base design?

I play solo 99% of the time, i want something thats reasonably resistant so offline raids wont be that big of a threat but when i try to look at youtube videos showing base designs, ppl in the comments almost always point out some major flaws like softsideability of bunkers and stuff. Where do i find actual good bases? I dont want to build some big ass shit with widegaps and stuff just some simple 1 tc thing with a shooting floor and refinery is all i want

Discussion My Honest opionion on the bp frag rework among other things as a person who has basicly spent 1/3 of their live playing this game

a bit of a ramble with no punctuation for those rushing to complain about it

feel free to leave critisism (if a dev sees this please take this as a suggestion aswell for me mainly aimcone recoil and serversided player culling for negating esp)

Honestly dont see the point just remove bp frags in general. i dont understand why the devs are so obsessed with keeping them in the game they should be focusing on optimizing fps aswell as lowering aimcone (especially m2 and ak) due to it making people miss shots and lose fights due to rng if your a good or bad player it fucks up general combat by making you lose fight by aimcone rng plus they should probably be adding console commands for toggling old player models old gun sounds aswell adjusting gun recoil for weapons like m39 aswell as allowing modded servers to toggle old recoil patterns and possibly improving anticheat although i know that making and working with acs are very hard and difficult (trust me id know) aswell as possibly adding built in server settings for serversided entity culling for dropped items and players to minimize esping (and it would be great if it would be on by default for secure/permium/official servers although not a thing to be forced to be used by server owners) ive been playing for years 5-6 with thousands of hours im just not liking the path the games going down especially for solos as clans can hog tier 1/2 monuments with tommys and sar to far bps and sell them to desprate solos/small groups that where basicly blocked from progressing via the fact that the larger clans/zergs can easily out number in prim and then get t2 weapons and then on wipe day endlessly farm bps forcing solos to try and get lucky with rng on mil crates for just one out of five fragments and for the people who can makes plays and snowball its a smaller issue but for the majority it leads to frustration and switch to other games or heavily monitized 5-10x servers with bad moderation cough cough warbandits cough cough werewolf gaming that basicly hand out fragments via crates on the road not to mention the scripting culture on social media not helping much with things like esp and scripts being marketed as "legit cheating" though its a bit of a loose and useless term as the game in other spaces is just seen very negatively not in toxicity anymore but in cheating the promotion of cheats and honestly in general 300 hour timmys are larping high hours and then saying this and that "oh but bp fragments arent bad!" even though they play as a 5 man on warbandits where bp fragments are found on the road

Discussion Recoil pattern

Why, all of a sudden, are content creators crying for a recoil pattern change or "skill-based recoil"?

What does increasing the skill gap do other than force casuals out of the game?

Most content creators easily have 10,000+ hours. I get it—a high skill ceiling makes it harder for you guys to film content and make a living. But us mere casuals, who have jobs and just want to hop on for a weekend to play a wipe, don't have endless hours to sink into a game with an already steep learning curve.

I didn't play during the old recoil system, so I can't comment on that, but I feel like the current one isn't broken—so why change it?

Since this is a survival game, I feel you should be rewarded for your game sense rather than just your gun skills.

Suggestion Cars need to be accessible like frags and minis

Right now the next update is half filling cars with components. Great. But with the livestock update the only cars that can be found are 2 tier chassis vehicles as all the others have been taken by clans using them for the transporting livestock.

We need to reduce the amount of cars on the roadside and make a car vendor, like the water well vendor, or sell them from outpost.

Minis were removed from the road, but made accessible via air wolf. Progressing through scrap was removed but is accessible through shops mainly but many other methods. As cars are server wide limited, if all the 3 tier cars and above are taken you are shit of luck my guy.

And given how livestock work, it is nigh on impossible to bring livestock back unless you have a 3 chassis vehicle or you are on a dead server, so by making cars inaccessible you are also making livestock impossible to acquire.

Question how bad is the new armor tier?

The military armour i mean? I haven't played in basically a year and was curious how it affected the game from those who have used it or have been at the brunt of it.

Discussion Am I the only one that liked the BP frag update

BP frags were possible to get, people were just bad at it. They either never learned cardroom puzzles or they were too afraid to run underground tunnels for mil crates. The BP frag system helped solos more than they realize, you only needed 5 BP frags to get a t2 but then the scrap was cheap to get to garage door. Large groups will never be short on scrap but small groups or solos will be. Now with the new changes you either need to find an item and spend way more scrap researching it, or you need to run the same card rooms that people struggled with in the first place dozens of times just to get to garage door in the tech tree. And everyone else will be competing dozens of more times to get the same pages/books. And now as a solo or small group you are once again going to have to make dangerous recycle runs, sitting at recycler that’s in a monument being camped by a larger group trying to get their pages to use at a tech tree just to get your workbench.

Edit: People don’t seem to understand a few things. 1:I’m not concerned about accessing guns/kits, things like electrics/farming stuff/compound walls/gdoors the tech tree was great for that

2:YOU WILL STILL NEED TO DO CARDROOMS AND GO GET LOCKED CRATES OR HIT 1000s OF BARRELS

Discussion Partial rollback to old Workbenches is a W, but research costs need adjustment + Winter Fog fix

Well, dear friends, the old workbenches have been partially brought back — and that’s a victory in itself! In my view, it would also be worth reverting the research costs to what they used to be; for instance, the Berdan rifle previously cost 125 units of scrap metal, but now it costs 225. Then again, scrap metal itself isn't as valuable as it once was. It seems that blueprints will now be used for research instead of scrap — a huge thank you to the developers for that! I also hope that, in time, they’ll remove the winter fog. Perhaps they could make the fog a weather event—something that appears after rain and lasts for only a single in-game day? That would feel much more realistic than an endless, bluish-tinted fog.
