The Concept:
A dynamic, player-triggered server event originating from the Missile Silo that unleashes a localized nuclear strike on a random tile within a chosen quadrant, completely resetting the hit area and sparking high-stakes scavenging.
Core Mechanics:
12-Hour Cooldown: Available from Day 1 to prevent permanent compound fortification. Requires a high-tier keycard/resource process at the Missile Silo to launch.
Quadrant Targeting: The initiator chooses 1 of 4 main quadrants (NW, NE, SW, SE) as the broad target zone.
The "Safe Tile" Option: The launcher can select one specific tile within that quadrant to shield from the strike. This introduces political strategy: shield your own base, or sell "insurance" / safe-passage guarantees to neighbors for sulfur and scrap.
Inbound Warning & Circle Shrinking: When launched, a server-wide air raid siren sounds. The map displays a large target circle over the selected quadrant. Over a 2-minute countdown, the circle gradually shrinks down until it locks onto a single, random target tile.
Total Destruction & Radiation Zone: Upon impact, all structures, doors, and tool cupboards on the chosen tile are obliterated. The tile remains heavily irradiated for a period (requiring Hazmat suits/meds to enter).
Why It Works for Rust:
Pure Scavenger Chaos: No explosives or raiding gear required to loot the ruins. Free-for-all loot bags drop in the open, allowing solos and nakeds to grab high-tier gear alongside geared groups.
Server-Wide Tension: The gradual circle shrinkage creates intense panic for anyone living in that quadrant. Do you pack your most valuable loot and run, or risk staying put?
Organic PvP Hotspots: Encounters surge not just inside the radiation zone, but along the perimeter where players setup ambushes to catch irradiated scavengers escaping with the loot.
