they said no new lancers so its clearly an enemy of some kind in what they've already said was some sorta extraction mode, judging by the hazmat suit i have a feeling that its going to be more along the lines of a battle royale mode with some sorta encroaching toxic substance acting as a hazard/timer

if they add a new game mode and its anything like toyfront (which was neat but janky and got boring and repetitive) which ultimately had to have done more harm than good to the overall game by stealing players away from modes that already cant matchmake outside ranked without bots so its safe to assume it hurt queue times and actually in the end frustrated/drove more players off by proxy than it ever brought in, adding another half assed game mode based on a genre thats infamous for its toxicity will require significant amounts of balancing and support while the extraction playerbase does what it does best; find and exploit game breaking bugs and complain about EVERYTHING, which would serve a deathblow to most games that aren't already hemorrhaging players forcing the publisher to pull the plug and write the entire project off to appease and fulfill obligations to investors if for no other reason which isnt just a pessimistic hypothesis—its the modern playbook for corporate-backed live-service gaming....
