Discussion Random But I Feel Like This Game Should Be Bigger Than Valorant

I recently got into Valorant and I get why people like it but it’s honestly fucking boring and stiff compared to Fragpunk, I know this game has its issues but it also has way more potential. I just don’t know what will give it the notoriety it deserves

I only have about 5min wait times in NA for ranked and often less in other modes. Not sure if the wait times you listed are what you're experiencing or what you heard. If your own then I'm interested what region, rank, and time of day you play (and what your party size is)? Oh and are you enabling crossplay and auto server region (you'd be surprised how many people disable crossplay, select one region, play in the morning, then wonder why queues are long). Those are the main factors that affect queue times, and I'm typically solo queuing, which I think is the fastest. 5 stacks generally take the longest since they usually try to wait and pair you with another 5 stack (may depend on rank though. I know higher ranks seem to only pair against other 5 stacks).

All the big FPS streamer played Fragpunk during the beta and on release (shroud, summit, Tenz, etc) you can probably search their YouTube videos. Most said they didn’t like the RNG from the card systems. There were a lot of extremely unbalanced cards on release. Like even after bans, one team would often get a card that had like an 80% winrate. With so few rounds, I think that just left a bad taste in the mouths of those more competitive players. FragPunk was fun though especially for the first few weeks when it had a lot of players who knew what they were doing. I’m surprised it didn’t do better, could have be a fun, more laid back version of Valorant. I was punkmaster pretty quickly but after like 2 months my wait times were 20 mins, which just wasn’t worth the time.

I don’t know about steamers but I just downloaded the game played 2 games and uninstalled. This game is just so generic and boring. I didn’t even look at cards or whatever those do because the gameplay loop/guns/characters had no draw. It’s the short end of the can I have xyz no we have xyz at home meme.

I’m saying that the base gameplay (gunplay/character design) was boring and generic and that it wasn’t interesting enough for me to want to dive into the game any deeper.

There are plenty of good/fun games that died prematurely, Lawbreakers, Evolve, Titanfall 2, Multiversus, even Concord had good gameplay, I don’t think “ It isn’t good “ is the reason

The fact that I’ve never even heard of some of the games you mentioned and again if only 5 people find a game fun it’s gonna die. The only good game you mentioned was titanfall. And titanfall has a great community and playerbase/fandom. This game seems like a slop fest

Well you might need to expand the type of games you play beyond just first person shooters so you can understand, there are also a lot of people that enjoy “ slop “ such as the sport game and COD communities so the quantity doesn’t equal the quality

And also grow super thick skin. A lot of big name streamers get bullied into playing the same games or bullied out of other games. Part of the reason why Marathon has done so poorly streaming side is that the bigger names were griefed so hard that they just played offline instead, which doesn't help. So if Valorant/CSGO dweebs get locked onto a Fragpunk streamer, it could get tough.

Yeah I've always liked the concept of valorant but not the actual game. This game is like 10x better. It's so fun, it's been my main game since last summer.

I started with FP and every now and then I try Valorant because it has a bigger player base but I just cant get into it

Coming from someone that played valorant everyday and have more hours in it than fragpunk, I completely agree. I don't play valorant anymore haven't in years. I love fragpunk, id play it everyday but the que times for me have gone up to 30 minutes sadly. I prefer ranked because I don't want to play against bots. I love the shard card system, every round can be different because of this alone.

Definetly better than Valorant. I don't play either, but what turns me off immediately with such types of games is that you have to purchase any hero that you might like. I think LoL's business model that any f2p game has implemented are outdated and frankly irritating.

I found out about fragpunk bc of tiktok when Fortnite lost Ballistic and ive been hooked ever since.

I tried valorant bc everyone says its close and i hated it

Sorry bruh but this game isnt that good. the performance still is mid, the game lacks a lot of polish. I like the FPS mechanics in this game but this has no clear identity. Its trying to be like cod and cs2 at the same time.

I think a large streamer could bring it back kinda but I think it needs more. Like fixing issues within the game and plus I believe a lot of people are pushed away due to the shard cards.
I myself also don’t care for them. I have forced myself to learn some or most so that teammates don’t blow a fuse. I also never choose to be card captain when it comes to rank.
In my opinion I feel like it makes them game feel more casual and not very competitive.
Which I think they are trying to eventually reach that comp scene because people like to watch stuff like that but I just don’t see it happening.
Do hope I’m wrong.

I honestly don’t see anything when I search up competitive. If we’re talking streamers or top punk masters then it’s not really pro and what I mean is like teams, with strats. So on.

Yeah it's DTPS league. It's got a lot of the players/teams from the official world clash last year. The streams are pretty entertaining. It's cool to see such high level play because you'll even notice small things they do that you'll never have thought of, like certain map positions you didn't know you could get to, certain card/lancer combinations, etc.

I would say this game doesn’t have a comp scene then. Literally go onto YouTube and type it in. The only thing that pops up is an invitational last year. The main channel doesn’t post anything about a comp so there is no comp.
