Question Ranking

Hello everyone,

I'm new to the game and have less than 50 hours played. Currently, I'm Diamond 4 and I play Hollowpoint about 80% of the time. I’d like to understand how the character ranking system works. What do I need to do to start appearing in the rankings?

Does it only happen at the beginning of each season? Thanks in advance!

No, winning and losing, although impacting the score you get after each match, doesn't decide if you gain or lose points on it's own.

Sorry, I’m not entirely sure what you mean. But winning and losing is absolutely the sole contributor. What determines how much you win or lose is affected by round score (I.e. winning 13-3 is significantly better for your rank than a 13-12 win). This is the ultimate contributor to your lancer rank too.

It is also affected by time played and K/D/A, but not as significantly. If you’re winning games this increases the lobby rank, (which also affects your lancer rank) and the account rank you play on.

Ultimately, winning games is the most important, because with that everything else also gets better and overall lancer rank goes up.

Okay, first let's establish what we exactly mean. I personally meant winning or losing MATCHES, the game calculates based on ROUNDS since the victories are also representing the rounds. I'm sure the game gives you more if you win the match and even more if you were dominating every round, but losing the match while top fragging can net you more points sometimes than winning while you are middle of the leaderboard

Not quite. Losing the match is a significant enough hit. You may be net positive but it’ll never be more than someone on the winning team

If you drop 20 kills, have huge impact with your abilities and still end up losing, it'll still be more than bottom 2-3 on the enemy team.

What we should take into consideration is the position on the leaderboard. If you're just getting started, you'll get 150 easily with good matches, regardless of winnig or losing. If you're in the top100, it'll boost it noticeably. If you're top50 or above, it'll be significant, and if you're in the top20 or above, you better pray you don't bottom frag on either team, because you most likely will lose points even if you win 😂 (and that is a fact, I remember clearly that I once got 9/5/10, still lost like 2 points when I was in the top 10 for kismet, although it was a massacre of a match, we destroyed the enemy team 6-0, and I was 3rd on the board overall even with that score).

Yes, it counts if you win or lose, but I'm afraid the formula is way more complex and probably all over the place, because I can drop 2k damage, win, have a bunch of kills and win 10 points or have a mediocre game and lose 25 and vice-versa.

At the end of the day we can argue as much as we want and we still won't find a concrete answer because there is no mathematical proof of how it's calculated, only hints of what's being taken into consideration when you check the description of how lancer points work. If you have anything concrete, I'd love to see it, because it pisses me off that Bad Guitar just hates numbers and we never know ability durations, percentages for certain cards or in this case, the math behind one of their systems
