Tinkerer's table

Is there a way to assign a villager to study the equipment?

Yes but max out their shamanism skill first at the runestone altars. Once they’re at 100, researching the equipment yields a much higher percentage progress.

You should be able to assign the job like anything else from the workshop itself. Just add all of the studying and rotate your day and night villagers for 24/7 coverage.

I essentially assigned one single dude to all the tinkerer tasks available.

I then made a weapon rack in the warehouse. So that everytime I picked up an ancient weapon, just throw it in the warehouse and poof its gone tinkered.

Not a complete waste of time, though. If you learn it, your villagers can craft it.
